PREPARING FOR WORSHIP

Pastor Trudy's Message

Confirmation and King David's flaws. We will be celebrating four adults (at 9 am) and 12 freshmen (at 10:30 am) as they renew the promises of the covenant made in their baptisms. On this Sunday of celebration, we will hear a scripture about King David's fall from grace, a fall that hurts (even kills) other people. It may not seem to fit, but what better thing to celebrate than God loving us through our mistakes...turns out we can't really fall from grace, but we sure can fall into it.

God, as we celebrate Your work in the lives of confirmation students of all ages, help us also to celebrate Your work in ours, not just when we are seemingly on track, but even more when we are off track. God, show us a way to be on Your track. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Annual Meeting Recap

Over 60 people attended the annual meeting on Sunday, October 16, easily meeting the requirements for a quorum. We elected council members and a new Treasurer and Finance Secretary, as well as a team for our new endowment fund. A budget was passed that represented an increase over the previous year's budget due to inflation adjustments to salaries and building related line items. Our impact beyond GLC also increases since we give 10% of our total income away (2% locally and 8% to the ELCA), the amount given increases with our budget. Thank you to all who prepared for the meeting and to those who attended— all part of living generously!

GLC's Parent's Day Out and Children's Ministry will be participating in Geneva's Downtown Trick or Treating event. Come by the church with your kiddos on Thursday, October 27, 2-5 pm for a candy treat!

Coat Collection

New or gently used (and washed) winter coats of all sizes are being collected for the Radical Love organization. Please place them in the collection bin in the Narthex (main entrance lobby) at GLC. Jackets will be shared with Mercy Housing in Batavia. Contact: Michelle Lata #generouslifeinChrist

The second consecutive GLC adult mission trip to serve the community of Martin, KY with Christian Appalachian Project is set for Sunday, April 30 - Friday, May 5, 2023. High School Youth packed snack bags for Radical Love . Bags are delivered to local schools and apartment buildings to help supply food to our neighbors in need. #generouslifeinChrist

First night of confirmation classes for our 1st and 2nd year students. We're off to a great start and look forward to a faith-full year ahead!
