The most wonderful time of the year: Part 2

Can you believe we are already half-way through December? It seems like just yesterday we were gearing up for Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP), and now we are almost into the New Year. I’m sure you had lots of meetings with many clients over the past few months to sign them up for 2022 coverage.  

Should you discover that any of your clients aren’t happy with their decision and have questions or are reconsidering their Medicare options, Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is just around the corner. As a reminder, OEP is the time of year when Medicare beneficiaries have one last chance to change their Medicare coverage, and it runs from Jan. 1 through March 31. 

As you connect with any clients who want to participate in the upcoming OEP, I hope you’ll remember that Fallon Health is here to help. There’s a lot to learn about Medicare. So whether you’re a seasoned broker or new to the role, you’re bound to have questions. To help you get the information you need, Fallon regularly hosts two types of Medicare presentations: Medicare 101 and Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement. OEP begins Jan. 1

The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period begins in less than two weeks. You will have until March 31 to submit any new enrollments or any plan changes to us. As long as they are received by end of business on that date, we will be able to process them. You can submit enrollments at https://fallon.sunfirematrix.com/app/agent/fchp or, if you have paper applications, you can fax them to us at 1-508-757-0572, or email them to MedicareSalesBrokers@fallonhealth.org.

Medicare Minute video series launched

Now available online: A new video series from Fallon Health called Medicare Minute. Launched on Dec. 15, this series features short educational videos that touch on a variety of Medicare topics in one minute or less. Here is the list of the first topics covered:

It's nearly official: OptumRx is Fallon's new PBM

With the start of the New Year comes Fallon’s transition to OptumRx for pharmacy benefit management services. OptumRx was selected so that we could meet the changing needs of our members and our business. Fallon members began hearing about this change in October, and the official changeover is effective Jan. 1, 2022. If your clients have any questions about Fallon’s pharmacy benefit, or Optum Rx, please have them contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-325-5669 (TRS 711).

Reminder for Freedom members

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, Fallon Medicare Plus Freedom will no longer be available. The good news is that Fallon offers individual Medicare Supplement plans that work similarly to Freedom—and we can accept applications for these plans right up through Dec. 31, 2021!

With our Fallon Medicare Plus Supplement plans, members have the freedom to see who they want to see, when they want to see them. With no network restrictions, members have access to any provider that accepts Medicare. These plans provide medical coverage for covered services at $0 after the Medicare Part A and/or Part B deductible is met. Our Medicare Supplement members also get:

  • One routine eye exam plus $150 toward a pair of eyeglasses or contact lenses per calendar year
  • A free gym membership with SilverSneakers®, which provides access to fitness equipment, group exercise classes and more at locations nationwide. Plus, members can participate in live virtual classes and On-Demand™ 24/7 workout videos

Fallon also offers our employer group Medicare Advantage HMO plan, Fallon Medicare Plus Premier HMO as well as our direct-to-consumer Medicare Advantage HMO plans.
