Through our seasonal programs , local families in need received food , sc hool supplies and holiday gifts for their children. Parents received one-on-one career coaching to help them achieve upward economic mobility. Counselors were able to help hundreds of people through difficult situations. Families Forward Mission Moment
Escaping domestic violence is a complex journey, but Anna made the difficult choice to leave her abusive situation. In doing so, Anna lost all financial support and was unable to find a stable place to live for herself and her two sons. When she was referred to Families Forward last Spring, Anna was living in her car and working as a Lyft driver to pay for basic necessities. We were able to immediately place Anna in emergency housing with a motel voucher. Anna was quickly referred to our Counseling Program and soon after, connected with a Career Coach. Through our referral to a partner program with Upskill OC, Anna began training with another partner, CisoShare Cyber Security. Anna was one out of 12 to begin the training, and upon completion of an internship, was the only candidate selected for employment. The result of her internship was an offer of employment at $65,000 per year, enabling Anna to secure a market rate apartment and regain financial self-sufficiency for her family.
