Theme: Shapes
Welcome to family activities with PBS Kids! Shapes are building blocks for larger concepts of recognition, categorizing, problem solving and spatial relations. Understanding different shapes helps children learn skills in other curriculum areas including reading, math, and science.
Two age level areas are available – PreK-K and Grades 1-2.
PreK-K
Get ready to eat some geometry! Here’s a quick way to turn lunchtime into math play by making a tangram puzzle sandwich. You will need bread and some type of filling to spread between the slices. What is your favorite filling? Peanut butter? Jelly? Spreadable cheese? Hint: you can use the shape ideas from the Odd Squad tangram puzzle activity below. An adult may need to help you with the cutting of shapes.
       Tangram Puzzles
A tangram puzzle uses polygon shapes to create designs or pictures. Print and use the shapes from Odd Squad to complete the activities.

Grades 1-2
Create your own set of 3-dimensional (3D) shapes from Odd Squad. In this activity, you can fold and glue paper to build your 3D shapes while learning math vocabulary. Young children may need some help cutting and gluing the shapes together.

    Cyberchase: 3-D Botopolis House
Use basic geometry skills to construct this house from Cyberchase. Get started by printing the activity sheet, then continue cutting, folding, and gluing to make your square house.

Peg + Cat Shape Game
Super Peg + Cat need help saving Mathtropolis from mischievous math villains. Use geometry and shape skills to solve the puzzles in this game.
