Theme: Try New Things
Welcome to family activities with PBS Kids! Summer break is starting, what better time to some explore new activities.
Two age level areas are available – PreK-K and Grades 1-2.
PreK-K
Using this summer checklist, you can keep track of all the fun and new things you want to do this summer. Activities include art, reading, writing, and making a fruit kabob.

       Clifford: Talk About Size
Check out this activity from Clifford the Big Red Dog. Walk around your home, yard, or the local neighborhood observing the size of objects. Look around for 5 objects that are big and 5 objects that are small. Did you list furniture, buildings, trees, vehicles, or even people? How long was each list?
Grades 1-2
Use this Cyberchase activity to practice counting by ones, fives, and tens as you launch coins with a spoon. Discuss the coin values, then sort the coins. Finally count them by ones, fives, tens, and twenty-fives. What was the total value?
    Martha Speaks: Silly Sentences
Explore print concepts, print conventions, and the role of print in the world from this home activity from Martha Speaks. Cut up newspaper headlines and use the words to make your own silly sentences. Can you create a story? Get ready for glue and giggles! Be sure to ask an adult before you begin cutting up the home newspaper.

 New York Chocolate Egg Cream
Warm summer days are here, so why not try this cooling milk drink. This fizzy, chocolaty drink is a New York classic—and contains NO eggs and NO cream! All you need is chocolate syrup, full-fat milk, and plain seltzer. Did you try the pretzel rod with your drink?
