March 8th-12th Family Activities Newsletter

Welcome to week 34 of the WMHT Family Activities Newsletter.
This weekly family newsletter is providing resources for children’s growing and learning throughout the winter and spring months.
The Learn Along Bingo theme for this week is Growing as a Writer.
I hope you find this helpful!

Theme: Learn Along Bingo:
Growing as a Writer
Welcome to Learn Along Bingo with PBS Kids! Children write to express ideas using letter-like shapes, symbols, letters and words. We learn that writing is meaningful.
Two age level areas are available – PreK-K and Grades 1-2.
PreK-K
This week’s booklet offers many different writing activities. Choose from Clifford's size words, playdough or shaving cream letters, Super Why spelling, and more. Did you use the Lets Go Luna cards to thank someone?

       Lets Go Luna Recipe Cards
Use your writing skills to make recipe cards of your family’s favorite foods. You can use these Let’s Go Luna cards to organize your recipes. Did you discover any unusual foods your family likes to eat?
Grades 1-2
Read through this week’s printable activities and everyday learning ideas. You can draw, write poetry, practice spelling, or interview someone. Check out the Word Girl Synonym – Antonym game!

    What’s the Point
Exploring words, their meanings, and how they relate to other words helps build vocabulary and writing skills. Using this activity from Martha Speaks, find a newspaper and cut apart some headlines. Then have some fun creating silly sentences.

  Sharing Family Stories
Working with this outline from Martha Speaks, talk with other family members to explore and collect family history. Write down the stories, creating a booklet to share with others.
