Theme: New School Year
Welcome to family activities with PBS Kids! A new school year has started! Try some activities to help with transitions during the first few days of school.
Two age level areas are available – PreK-K and Grades 1-2.
PreK-K
Celebrate the first day of school with this sign. Write in your age, teacher’s name, and other related information. Maybe hang it on your bedroom door?

       Daniel Tiger: Time for School
Daniel Tiger is getting ready for school! Print this activity and use the pictures to show how you get ready for school.
Grades 1-2
Get ready to go back to school with this booklet activity from PBS KIDS! Here is an opportunity to reflect on summer fun, and think ahead to the new school year.
    Go Fetch with Arthur
Play a card game with Arthur and your friends! This game, Go Fetch! is like Go Fish, but with more barking, and helps to develop observational and matching skills as you decide which of your friends to ask for the card you need to make a pair. Print out the cards and invite new school friends to play with you.

PBS Parents Back to School Jitters
It’s that time of year again. Summer is winding down and families are preparing for the school year. A new in-school year comes with a new classroom, a new teacher and new classmates. It’s perfectly natural for even the most enthusiastic young learner to feel nervous and uncertain. Take these steps to help your child prepare for a new school year.
