Theme: Nature
Welcome to family activities with PBS Kids! Fall season is here, a good time to head outside and explore some new activities.
Two age level areas are available – PreK-K and Grades 1-2.
PreK-K
Make a fall leaf sun catcher to place in a sunny window. You will need coffee filters, liquid watercolors or food coloring, and an eye dropper or small paint brush. Use the leaf template in these directions to create your leaf shapes. How many leaves did you make?

       Sesame Street Nature Walk
Fall is a time of many changes in nature. Use this Sesame Street activity to start a nature scrapbook. Print additional pages, take a walk in the park, and add drawings of nature objects you see. How many other objects did you find on your walk?

Grades 1-2
This week take a walk through the yard or local park and collect a few falling leaves. Use this Nature Cat activity to make leaf and bark rubbings. You will need some crayons and paper to complete the craft. Did you find other small objects to use for rubbings?

    Nature Cat Sail Away
Join the Nature Cat Crew and catch some wind! Take a walk and gather items found in nature to make your own breezy sail boat! Use items such as sticks, leaves, and other objects you can find, follow these directions, and make your own boat to sail away. Did you ask a friend to work with you on this activity? Where did you sail your boats?
Children benefit when they engage in household chores. They learn practical life skills, and chores can also support school readiness. Check out these tips from PBS Parents.
