FAMILY CONNECTION | August 20, 2020
It was an unprecedented start to the school year but our Griffins rose to the challenge.
Student-Parent Handbook
Families should review the Student-Parent Handbook and log into Blackbaud to confirm your agreement for the 2020-2021 school year.
School Forms
Parents have several online forms to complete for this school year. You must be logged into your account, not your student's Blackbaud account, to access the notification bar near the top of your screen that states, “You have: * Form(s) to Review.”
Visit Blackbaud Help if you need instructions on how to log in and navigate Blackbaud.
School Pictures
School pictures are Wednesday, August 26, for Freshmen and Sophomores and Thursday, August 27, for Juniors and Faculty. Students should wear shirt and tie on their Picture Day. Seniors who have not had their Senior Picture taken need to wear a shirt, tie, and jacket on August 27. Students need to have their picture taken for student IDs and yearbook.
Please complete the online Picture Day Form if you want to purchase a photo package from Tom Paule Photography.
Reporting Campus Absences
If your student is remaining home for any reason on a day he is scheduled to be on campus, please contact Jen Kraus in the Main Office at 314-965-4853 ext 100 or jkraus@vianney.com. Let her know if your student is attending his classes online that day so that he is not recorded as absent.
Physicals & Immunizations
Thank you to our students exercising healthy habits on campus. Please continue wearing a mask in public and practicing social distancing when off campus, and don't forget to submit your health forms via Blackbaud. If you have questions about whether to stay home for an illness or any symptoms you may be experiencing, please call our school nurses at 314-965-4853 ext 275 or email Erin Foerestel, RN and Laura Madden, RN at nurse@vianney.com.
Health Screenings
Everyone is screened upon entering our buildings. You can help reduce the spread of illness by asking your student the following questions before he arrives on campus. If he answers YES to any of the questions, please keep your student at home.
In the past 24 hours have you experienced:
  • Fever with a temperature of over 100.0 F or chills?
  • New or worsening cough?
  • Shortness of breath or have had difficulty breathing?
  • Fatigue?
  • Muscle or body aches?
  • New or worsening headache?
  • Loss of taste or smell?
  • Sore throat, congestion, or running nose not due to allergies?
  • Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea
  • Close contact (6 feet for a period of 15 minutes or more) with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has been placed in quarantine for possible COVID-19?
  • A medical professional/public health official asking you to self-isolate or quarantine?
Online Learning Success
Vianney is using both Blackbaud and Google Classroom this school year. Students will receive in-person training in the first weeks of class to successfully navigate both learning platforms. We also offer video tutorials created by our faculty.
Dress Code
Students should continue to follow the school dress code outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook when on campus or learning online. Shirts with sleeves and turned-down collars or Vianney logo outerwear must be worn during online classes.
Back-To-School Plan
Please review our Back-to-School Plan for information about the start of the school year.
Parking Tags
Parking tags are available for $25 each if a student is parking on campus. Complete the Parking Contract online and bring your payment to the Main Office to receive your tag.
On Eagle Days, ONLY Seniors may park on the Senior Lot. All other students who drive on Eagle Days must park in other legally-marked spots on campus. On Lion Days, any student driving to campus may park on the Senior Lot. During the school day, students will be fined for driving to and from the Art Center, parking illegally on campus, or failing to properly display parking tags.
Student Schedules
You can view schedules and grades in Blackbaud. Visit the Blackbaud Help page if you need instructions on how to log in and access your schedule.
If your student's schedule needs to be adjusted, please contact his school counselor by tomorrow, August 21.

MARIANIST MOMENT
Blessed William Joseph Chaminade
No doubt, faith must be animated by charity. Faith should not only be a light in the mind, but it should be in the heart as well. There must be in faith a disposition of the heart; love of truth. This is why you must savor what you believe.
