We are grateful that thunderstorms could not keep more than 600 students and their grandparents from celebrating Grandparents' Mass and Breakfast with us on September 8.
Black & Gold Day
Student Council invites students and staff to wear their official Vianney-logo clothing or plain black/gold shirts to school on Friday, September 13, to honor our fall teams. Black & Gold Days are spirit days where shorts and athletic pants are acceptable, but college gear is not allowed. Students who choose not to participate should wear regular school attire.
Road Construction
Please be aware that I-44 at I-270 is scheduled to close this weekend for work on Watson Road bridge. Crews will be working Friday, September 13, at 7 pm to Monday, September 16, at 5 am. Drivers may have to exit at Watson Road to reach campus.
Don Heeb Night
We are honoring Coach Don Heeb on Friday September 13, at half time of the Vianney vs. Helias football game.Those who coached and played with him during his 30+ years at Vianney will also be recognized.
College Fair
The Vianney Guidance Department is hosting its 2019 College Fair on Tuesday, September 17, from 6-7:30 pm at our Field House. You will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from approximately 140 colleges and universities across the country. For additional information about this complimentary event, please contact your Guidance Counselor.
Sophomore Retreat
Campus Ministry hosts Sophomore Retreat Tuesday, September 17, at Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury. Sophomores depart campus by bus at 8:15 am and return by 2:30 pm. Donuts are provided in the morning along with a lunch of sandwich, chips, and cookie from Planet Sub.  If you have a food allergy, please bring your own snack and a lunch. Sophomores may dress down as a Black & Gold Day and will not need their textbooks.  
We ask that students leave cell phones at home to reduce distractions during the retreat.
The theme of the retreat is the life and spirituality of our namesake, St. John Vianney. If you have any questions, please contact Jeremy Remiger at .
Service Opportunity
Students are invited to support TASK on Tuesdays, beginning September 17. The mission of Team Activities for Special Kids , or TASK, is to provide kids with special needs athletic and social opportunities. Vianney will offer transportation to/from TASK after school and up to five service hours per evening.
Youth Safety Presentation
De Smet High School is hosting Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt for an informational presentation regarding youth safety and prevalent threats facing students, including online safety, financial exploitation, and identity theft prevention. Attorney General Schmitt will be presenting with Amy Haywood, Chief Counsel of the Missouri Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. Parents are invited to attend Monday, September 16, at 4:30 pm.
Music Trivia Night
Join us October 12 for this unique music trivia event that benefits the Graduation Lock In for the Class of 2020. Doors open at 6:30 pm with trivia beginning at 7 pm. It's $25 per person or $200 for a table of eight. Contact us at for more information and to register.
Senior Parent Donation
Senior parents are asked to make a $25 donation of gift cards or beer for Music Trivia Night. Gift cards can be delivered by students now through October 10 to Dennis Matreci . Beer donations should be delivered by parents on Thursday, October 10, from 5 to 7 pm.
Parents' Club Meeting
Our second Parents' Club meeting of the school year is Thursday, November 7, at 7 pm in Griffins' Cafe. We will host a speaker on Student Stress.

Fr. Brian Fallon introduces us to the man we know as St. John Vianney. The Vocation Director for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis serves as our school chaplain.
