Our winter 2024 issue will focus on substance use, abuse and addiction and the resultant physical, mental and behavioral health problems that family medicine physicians encounter.
Potential topics could address prevention, treatment and/or current clinical applications with special consideration for practical, actionable interventions for family medicine practice. Potential topics should address current evidence based approaches to addressing the use of opioids, cannabis, alcohol and nicotine, as well as other novel, potentially harmful substances.
Potential authors are required to submit a short abstract (1-2 paragraphs) of their proposed topic for review by our editorial board, prior to an invitation for the submission of an initial draft. Abstracts should briefly address the following:
1) How is this topic relevant to family medicine in general, or throughout
NYS?
2) What new information or unique perspective does this topic or information
provide?
3) How will this information change family medicine practice and/or what are
your primary conclusions?
Abstracts are due no later than October 20, 2023
Our first drafts will be due on or before November 20, 2023, with final drafts due on or before December 18, 2023.
Our spring 2024 issue in April will focus on “Inpatient Medicine." Additional details to come.
