Family Doctor Journal Seeking Authors

Our fall 2023 issue in October will address

"Lifestyle Medicine"

Our fall issue will focus on the evidence based specialty that prevents, treats and helps to reverse chronic disease through lifestyle interventions, addressing habits that have been proven to have the greatest impact on health.

Potential topics should address one or more of the primary components of lifestyle medicine: healthful eating- whole/ plant-based foods; increasing physical activity; managing stress; avoiding risky substances; improving sleep and forming and maintaining relationships.

We are especially interested in strategies regarding how and when to address lifestyle with patients, as well as interventions and programs which can be implemented in the primary care setting.

Potential authors are required to submit a short abstract (1-2 paragraphs) of their proposed topic for review by our editorial board, prior to an invitation for the submission of an initial draft. Abstracts should briefly address the following:

1)  How is this topic relevant to family medicine in general, or throughout

     NYS?

2)  What new information or unique perspective does this topic or information

     provide?

3)  How will this information change family medicine practice and/or what are

     your primary conclusions?

Abstracts are due no later than July 21, 2023

Our first drafts will be due on or before August 21st, with final drafts due on or before September 18th.

Our winter 2024 issue in January will focus on “Opioids and Substance Abuse." Additional details to come.
