Dear Gamecock families:
The semester is drawing to an end and, if you are like me, some semblance of closure is welcome. I hope the spring comes to a successful close for your student, and that they take time to reflect on the experiences of the last two months. We are hopefully learning to slow down, reprioritize, and appreciate health and community more than ever. I have found that we are more resilient than we ever imagined!
Although we did not get to celebrate students in the ways we’re accustomed during a typical April, there were many virtual celebrations. One of these was University Awards Day . On April 16, the UofSC community shared a collective cheer of congratulations as we honored the incredible accomplishments of so many of our students, many of whom are graduating seniors.
I hope you are finding the communication from the university helpful during this time and participating in town hall meetings as you're able. The town hall earlier this week was recorded for those who might have missed it. Thank you for the questions and comments you continue to bring to us, as those oftentimes are the same topics on the minds of others. As shared during the town hall meeting this week, many faculty, staff and students are participating in the university's  Future Planning Group . This group has been established to examine the impact of the pandemic on our campus and to make policy recommendations concerning the safe return of our university community.
The Department of Student Life continues to explore the many creative ways we can reimagine the student experience in light of Covid-19. There will no doubt be new expectations and social distancing measures that will require us to adapt and adjust what we do. I am confident our team of staff and students can deliver the exceptional and unique student experience for which we are known, whatever the unknowns may be.
I trust that your loved ones are safe and healthy. Please let us know what we can do to support you and your student in the days and months ahead! Thank you for entrusting us with your student and their academic pursuits. We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
