October Newsletter
Family Engagement in Region 20
Families and Friends,

Fall is a busy time for High School Seniors. Seniors can now apply to college, submit their FAFSA , TAFSA and take their SAT. Please let your student know that their high school counselors have many college readiness resources. If you need some guidance, please email me! I enjoyed responding to your emails regarding college readiness and event information last month.

Your October Newsletter contains community events, educational articles and mostly importantly, where to get help applying to college.

Happy Autumn!

Thank you for sharing our newsletter.

Queridos Familias y Amigos,

Need to Apply to College!
The Financial Aid Application is now open!
All US citizens and certain eligible non-citizens (such as permanent residents) can apply for financial aid using the  FAFSA . This must be done each year and the FAFSA is a free service.  You should never pay to fill out a FAFSA . The FAFSA application requires a federal school code or for you to select what school(s) you want your application to be sent.
The UTSA federal school code is 010115.
Non-citizen students must submit a paper  TASFA  with all applicable documents by the January 15 deadline to the One Stop Enrollment Center .
Note: Parents of dependent students should submit their 2018 IRS tax transcript or signed tax return.
You should never pay to fill out a FAFSA .

UTSA Community Events
BestFest
BESTFEST is a public festival hosted at UTSA each fall during Homecoming Weekend. Sponsored by Roadrunner Productions (RP), Student Activities, and UTSA, the event features dozens of food, beverage, and game booths run by student and faculty/staff organizations, as well as interactive activities, musical entertainment, carnival rides and a fireworks display. This year the festival will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 , from 4 - 11 p.m. in the parking lot in front of the Convocation Center.
UTSA Day is one of the best ways to get introduced to UTSA because we turn the whole university into a giant open house! At UTSA Day, you can attend talks from our academic colleges, explore the campus and housing spaces, and connect with UTSA faculty, staff and students.
