Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year

THE NATIVITY PLAY
A scene so peaceful in the night,
the starry sky is soft and bright.
A stream of light shines from a star,
to guide the Wise Men from afar.
A stable's where the Christ Child lay,
asleep so precious on the hay.
Mary and Joseph are close by,
with angels singing from on high.
The shepherds kneel down to adore,
the Babe Who comes to bless the poor.
A King has gold to give this day,
a drummer boy, a song to play.
As God's Own Son has come to earth,
may we behold His wondrous birth!  Joyce Mary Ecocha

For today in the city of David a Savior has been born for you, who is Messiah and Lord.  Luke 2:11

What Goes Up Must Come Down!
What a beautiful Christmas season - thank you to everyone who had a part in preparing our church for the season!  On Monday, January 13, we begin the season of Ordinary Time.  As a result in the change of liturgical seasons, we will be changing the environment and could use more help.   On Monday at 8 AM, we will be removing the poinsettia plants, lights, and tree.  The live tree and the wreaths will be taken outside to dispose of (we do save the décor items such as ribbons and pinecones for future year's use).  The crèche will be carefully deconstructed and statues returned to their packing boxes.  There is a big chase of loose pine needles - lots of vacuuming and sweeping.  Ordinary Time banners will be installed.  We could really use the extra hands.  If you think you can help with the tree and wreaths, please bring work gloves.  If you can make time available on Monday morning, come and join in the fun!  RSVP to Angela Bravata, angelab@stjohnv.org.
