Hello friends!

Thanks to everyone who joined us last month at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center and the Spring Creek Canyon. Starting this Sunday, the season officially kicks off with guided outdoor adventures every single week through August. Join us as we stress less, and explore more in the nearby natural places all around us!

Join us Sunday, June 5 for the OFFICIAL launch of Centred Outdoors Season 6!

The weather forecast looks beautiful for the Family Fishing Picnic at Tussey Mountain Pond on Sunday, June 5 from 1-5 p.m. Join us for a fun-filled day in the fresh air where everyone, of all ages and fitness levels can fish, learn, and explore the outdoors. The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required (all fishing equipment, as well as hot dogs and snacks will be provided).

During the event I'll be co-leading hikes with Mark Nale, outdoor expert, photographer, and author. This is a great opportunity to learn from Mark and his many experiences, and we look very forward to exploring Galbraith Gap Trail with him at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The adventure continues the week of June 12 at Poe Paddy Tunnel...

After the Family Fishing Picnic, we'll join Penns Valley Conservation Association at Poe Paddy Tunnel for guided walks and fly fishing demonstrations along Penns Creek. I know that for many of you this is a favorite location for many reasons, including the AWEsome tunnel and scenic views of the stream!

Join us for the official launch of Centred Outdoors Season 6!

🌭 Spend a Sunday afternoon at Tussey Mountain Pond in Boalsburg, PA with your friends and family during this annual event. Enjoy hot dogs grilling under the shady pavilion, information stations and hands-on activities related to the great outdoors, and a chance to bait your hook, cast, and catch a fish (bait and equipment provided)!

Fishing, food, and fun activities all day!
1 - 5 pm:

🎣 The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission provides all fishing equipment, as community organizations and volunteers provide help with fishing, demo knot tying, fly casting, and a variety of other family-oriented activities. Picnic food provided.

Join a Centred Outdoors guided hike
1 pm and 3 pm:

🥾 Mark Nale, outdoor expert, photographer, and writer, will join Bridget Whyte, Centred Outdoors adventure coordinator to host guided walks along the Galbraith Gap Trail in Rothrock State Forest at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

This event is hosted by Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited, ClearWater Conservancy and Centred Outdoors, and many partnering organization. The event is free, and open to everyone. No registration required.

🥾 Take a short trek along the Pennsylvania Mid State Trail with Jim Flanagan, environmental educator, Penns Valley Conservation Association. The adventure begins with a stroll through Poe Paddy Tunnel. On the other side, you'll be greeted by gorgeous views of Penns Creek, birdsongs, and an abundance of plants and trees surrounding the Mid State Trail. The trail is welcoming, with wide, flat, even terrain - making this adventure well-suited for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Fly fishing demonstration with Penn Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited

and Wednesday, June 15, 5-7 pm:

🎣 Fly fishing demonstration: Interested in learning a about fly fishing and trying it out for yourself? Penns Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be stationed streamside to provide demonstrations, instructions, and answer your questions about fly fishing in an awe-inspiring setting that's known for being home to some of the best fishing streams in the country.

  • Sign in at every guided adventure you attend this summer.
  • After you sign in to THREE events, you'll earn your snail sticker!
  • You'll also be entered to win prizes each time you attend a Centred Outdoors event!
  • Drawings will take place at the end of July and September.
  • Pick up your 2022 passport during a guided event, at the ClearWater office, or request that one be mailed to you here.

Volunteer with Centred Outdoors!

Do you love to get outside and connect to nature while volunteering your time for a great program out in the fresh air? We're seeking volunteers for a variety of positions to make our events reach their potential. These positions range from helping with hikes, tabling and greeting participants, and leading wellness activities. If this sounds like something you are interested in, connect with us today!
