Brain Injury Awareness Month is a time for education, connection, and awareness. The More Than My Brain Injury campaign, created by BIAA, provides a platform for educating the public about the incidence of brain injury.

The CARD™ system (Comfort, Ask, Relax, Distract) is a science-based, proven framework to help prepare children for stressful events, like school-based vaccinations, presentations, and examinations.

Designed for families of children and youth with disabilities and the professionals who work with them, the videos, infographics, and checklists provide an understanding of how trauma affects children and youth with disabilities and the ways in which trauma-informed care can improve outcomes in all areas of children’s lives.

It is critical for youth with disabilities to develop self-care skills, cultivate social skills, gain an understanding of appropriate behaviors, increase personal safety, and work toward becoming a more independent adult.
