On Saturday, October 25th, MAS-SSF hosted a lively Family Fun & Wellness Day at the Salam Center for newcomer families. The beautiful Salam Center's event hall was transformed into a vibrant indoor festival filled with activities for all ages!
Our welcoming MAS-SSF staff, Salam Center volunteers, and MAS-SSF volunteers greeted and registered more than 300 people, guiding them to our outreach tables where they could learn more about our wide range of programs and services.
Workshops
MAS-SSF offered four engaging workshops—some presented twice to accommodate the large turnout. Attendees received gift cards as a token of appreciation for their participation and interest. All sessions were conducted in Dari with Pashto interpretation available.
Home Safety and Well-Being (Parents): How to protect yourself and your loved ones from hazards around the house. A safe and secure home supports physical health, emotional peace, and social harmony!
Societal Norms (Parents and Youth 13+): Parents and Youths learned about some of the common norms in American society to help ease their family’s transition to living in the USA.
Positive Parenting: Stay Active! (Parents): By keeping our children active and healthy today, we help them grow stronger, more confident, and ready for a brighter tomorrow.
Breaking Old Patterns, Building New Joy (Women): We carry stories from our beloved homeland in our hearts, some full of love and strength, and some filled with pain. Healing begins when we talk about both.
