Family Medicine In Action - Telemedicine Moving!
While the full Capitol Update for week three will be coming out this Friday, there is good news coming from Tallahassee. First, the FAFP was well represented in Tallahassee on Tuesday, January 25 with Drs. Van Pelt, Lawrence, Jenkins, and Grayson (L-R) from USF's FM residency serving as Doctor of the Day.  Next, telehealth expansion bills (SB 312 by Sen. Manny Diaz (R-Hialeah) and HB 17 by Rep. Tom Fabricio (R-Miramar)) have passed through referenced committees and are on the respective chambers' calendars for consideration. This legislation will allow family physicians to issue a renewal prescription for a Schedule III, IV or V controlled substance through telehealth. The FAFP also continues to advocate for telehealth payment parity (SB 726/HB 1087). Telehealth is the FAFP's #1 priority for the 2022 session!
