Pine Island Families,

I hope this message finds you safe and well after the recent storm. As we return to school, we are grateful to those that have been supporting other communities in need and will continue to support our students as they return on Tuesday.

The Family News is filled with ways to engage in school spirit and get involved at PIA.  This Wednesday, October 16, we will recognize Unity Day, as we celebrate kindness, acceptance and inclusion in a united effort to prevent bullying! This is a national recognition and schools throughout St. Johns County as well as throughout the state of Florida wear orange in support of bullying prevention.

WE WOULD LIKE FOR EVERYONE TO WEAR ORANGE ON WEDNESDAY! It can be a shirt, pants, hair tie, belt, etc. Remember, Unity Day is about everyone using their six pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship) to be kind.

The next two weeks, we will focus on the Pillars of Character kicking off with Unity Day on October 16 and celebrating Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 21 - Oct. 25. During Red Ribbon Week we will focus on choosing healthy behaviors and our commitment to being drug-free.

I would like to encourage our families to get their children involved in the spirit days coming up. We believe that giving students experiences that they won't forget keeps them engaged, excited, and motivated to come to school every day. Pine Island is a great place for EVERYONE and we are so excited to celebrate the learning community that we have built together.

As we look forward into November, one of our most treasured traditions is honoring our women and men, past and present. This year, we will partner with our Dolphin Band in a Veteran's Day Concert.

5th grade - 8th Grade ONLY FCA Information -

• Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle is this Wednesday, October 16^th from dismissal until 2:30 in room 204.  
• This is a non-denominational organization that combines faith with sport. 
• All 5^th – 8^th graders are welcome to attend. 
• Students should be picked up at 2:30PM/OR CAN be dismissed to biker, carter, walker at 2:30.
• If you have any questions, contact Coach Anderson (cindy.anderson@stjohns.k12.fl.us).

CHARACTER PUMPKINS

ARE COMING TO PIA!



• Your child may deliver the pumpkin to the Media Center on Monday, 10/28 or parents may leave the pumpkin in the office where the pumpkins will be gathered and delivered to the Media Center.
• All pumpkins can be picked up on Thursday, Oct. 31 between 3:00 and 3:30. Any unclaimed pumpkins will be removed from the building and disposed of promptly.
• Be creative when creating your pumpkin storybook character. 
• Please DO NOT CARVE the pumpkin.

Veteran's Day Concert Invite

PIA Families,

We could not be more excited this year to honor our Veteran's at the first annual PIA Veteran's Concert performed by our Pine Island Band on Thursday, November 7 @ 6:30PM in the PIA CAFE! The Dolphin Band is led by Mr. Stephen Panoff and together they have put together a special night of music to honor our men and women of service.

We are extending a special invite to our families and their Veteran! Please click on the invitation for more details on how to participate in this special event! The deadline to register is Friday, October 25!
