Pine Island Families,

We are so excited about the week ahead as we travel to Washington, DC with our 8th grade students. These traditions will last a lifetime for our students, I know they do for many of us!

Literacy Week starts this week at PIA. Make sure to read all about it below as our team has planned some fun experiences and of course "dress" days to celebrate. Make sure to print the tracking page so your student can track the number of pages they are reading each day~

In addition, our Kinder friends and 1st grade friends celebrate the 100th and 101st day of school at PIA. It is always fun to see how they celebrate these special days!

There is a lot happening this week, so make sure to read through the Family News for important information!

Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!

January 27-31, 2025

Monday, January 27 - PIA kicks off Literacy Week

• Begin reading and completing your goal tracking sheet
• Bring your tracking sheet every day to your teacher every day to add to your classes total of pages read chart

Wednesday - January 29 -

• Wear -A-Word Wednesday - wear a shirt with a positive or inspiration message

Thursday, January 30 -

• Throw back Thursday ~ wear your neon colors

Friday, January 31 -

• Wear your school colors

AND DON'T FORGET TO TURN IN THE # OF PAGES READ EACH DAY!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

• Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle is this Wednesday, January 29^th from dismissal until 3:30 in room 204. 
• This is a non-denominational organization that combines faith with sport. 
• All 5^th – 8^th graders are welcome to attend. 
• Parent pick-up or biker, carter, walker will be necessary at 3:30. If you have any questions, contact Coach Anderson (cindy.anderson@stjohns.k12.fl.us).

YEARBOOK DEADLINES APPROACHING

YYearbooks for Sale

• Yearbooks are on sale until sold out or until 4/30-
• Yearbooks will not be available after 4/30 and a second round of orders WILL NOT be ordered once we sell out.
• 8th grade ADS are available for purchase until February 14, 2025

NJHS - Pop Top Campaign

• The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is excited to announce the start of a Pop Tab Fundraiser, running from February 27 through the month of April!
• This fundraiser supports the Ronald McDonald House, an organization that helps children and their families through difficult times.

• We are asking students to collect pop tabs from soda cans and bring them to school to contribute to this great cause.
• Teachers will collect pop tabs in classrooms.
• NJHS students will ensure the collected tabs are emptied and counted regularly.
• Together, we can make a meaningful difference for families in need.
