The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Families,

At KLRN, our mission is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
PBS remains a critical source of timely and trusted information, a vital part of our cities emergency response system, and a safe space for young children to learn and grow. As our community faces new challenges, know that we are all in this together.

As always, we are proud to be a resource for educators, parents, and caregivers especially during these times when schools are closed and children are home for extended periods of time. Working together, we can navigate these challenging times through keeping young minds in our communities engaged.
We continue to obtain resources from PBS Learning Media to help the learning at home. You can find many here, and we encourage you to set up a free PBS Learning Media login to create folders, share ideas online. Need help navigating this awesome resource? Please see the bottom of this page labeled PBS Learning Media Resources.

Be sure to visit klrn.org/learning and connect with us at [email protected] with anything you would like to learn more about.

With Appreciation,
The KLRN Education Team
INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - THINKING
Language helps children express their thoughts and learn about the world around them, and helps lay the foundation for success in school.

Activity: Jumbo cardboard puzzles- Take a large piece of cardboard and draw a picture for your baby to color. Then cut the cardboard into two pieces.

INFANT/TODDLER SOCIAL - PHYSICAL
Physical activity is great for growing bodies and minds.

Activity: Hitting a balloon back and forth as they try their hardest to prevent it from touching the ground

INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - ART
Art provides children with many valuable experiences. Using art, children can express themselves openly. There's no right or wrong way to do art. It allows them the chance for self-expression. Especially in the toddler stage, children are seeking their identity, and seeking to assert themselves as people.

Activity: Do finger paints, shaving cream play, or other messy art in the tub for easy clean up.
INFANT/TODDLER - EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY
During a health, emergency we want to follow a few simple strategies to help keep the whole family healthy and strong.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - THINKING
The preschool period is a time of rapid growth. Preschoolers want to learn how things work, and they learn best through play. Play supports your child’s cognitive development – that is, your child’s ability to think, understand, communicate, remember, imagine and work out what might happen next.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - PHYSICAL
Physical development involves developing control over the body, particularly muscles and physical coordination.
Physical development helps build a healthier body composition, stronger bones and muscles. It also improves the child's cardiovascular fitness. Physical activities help in the development of better motor skills and in concentration and thinking skills.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - ART
Engaging children in arts and crafts is a wonderful way to stimulate their creativity, problem solving skills, fine motor skills.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY
Routines are key to keeping healthy. Brushing teeth, washing hands, eating well, and exercising every day help everyone grow and thrive.

PBS LEARNING MEDIA
PBS LearningMedia is free and can be used by anyone, but it was designed with teachers in mind. You can use it with the Remind app, Google classroom, and you can even create folders for your own reference and to share with your students, colleagues, and families.
