Respect Retreat

Sophomore students will be attending our Respect Retreat on December 13th, here in South Minneapolis at St. Mary’s University Twin Cities, put on by Youth Frontiers. After building a sense of community, we encourage students to take a closer look at how they’re treating themselves and others at their school. Students will listen to testimonials and spend time in small groups discussing and processing what they are learning throughout the day. Students will get a chance to share their goals for returning to school and how they can better respect themselves, their classmates, teachers, and families. 

Liturgy

We will celebrate a Mass on the Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe at 9:40am on December 12th in the KIVA (Auditorium) with presider Fr. David Haschka, SJ. Students and Families are welcome to join us. Please come early for parking. PTA CORNER

At November's PTA meeting, we revved parents up for the upcoming winter basketball season and encouraged high attendance to root on our PUMAS. That evening we also collaborated in groups to preview and provide parent input for survey question revisions or additions the student Climate Survey that students took at the end of the month. We look forward to reviewing the results with you all at an upcoming PTA meeting. 

At this December’s PTA meeting we will be having our very own Athletic and Activities Director Mr. Carpentier join us to speak on parent presence & involvement, Cristo Rey Spirit Wear (Sportswear clothing with Cristo Rey logos) and much more. Due to multiple events going on at Cristo Rey the PTA meeting in December will happen on the second Monday of the month. Join us at 6:30pm, December, 9th for a potluck dinner with the monthly meeting to follow and where child care will be provided!

Retiro Respect Retreat

Los estudiantes del grado 10 participarán en el retiro llamado Respect Retreat el 13 de diciembre, que tendrá lugar en la Universidad de St. Mary Twin Cities, en South Minneapolis. El retiro está facilitado por Youth Frontiers. Después de crear un sentido de comunidad, alentamos a los estudiantes a reflexionar sobre cómo se tratan a sí mismos y a los demás en la escuela. Los estudiantes escucharán testimonios y trabajarán en grupos pequeños para conversar y procesar lo que han aprendido a lo largo del día. Tendrán la oportunidad de compartir cuáles son sus objetivos para cuando regresen a la escuela y cómo pueden respectarse mejor a sí mismos, a sus compañeros de clase, sus maestros y familias. 

Liturgia

Celebraremos una Misa el día de la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, el 12 de diciembre a las 9:40 de la mañana en KIVA (auditorio). El celebrante será el Padre David Haschka, S.J. Invitamos a los estudiantes y sus familias a participar de esta celebración. Les aconsejamos llegar temprano para poder obtener estacionamiento. RINCÓN PTA 

En la Reunión PTA de noviembre, pusimos al día a los padres con respecto a la próxima temporada de básquetbol de invierno, y los alentamos a que vayan a los partidos para echarle porras a nuestros PUMAS. 

Durante esa reunión los padres de familia también trabajaron en grupos para analizar, dar su opinión, hacer cambios o agregar preguntas a la Encuesta sobre el clima interno de la escuela que los estudiantes contestaron a fin de mes. Aguardamos con interés la oportunidad de compartir los resultados con todos ustedes en una reunión PTA futura.

En la Reunión PTA de diciembre, el Sr. Carpentier, Director atlético y de actividades, hablará sobre la importancia de la presencia y participación de los padres, sobre la ropa deportiva con el logo de Cristo Rey, y muchos otros temas. Debido a varios eventos que tendrán lugar en Cristo Rey, la Reunión PTA de diciembre se llevará a cabo el segundo lunes del mes. Los invitamos el 9 de diciembre a las 6:30 de la tarde para una cena comunitaria seguida por la reunión mensual. Ofreceremos cuidado infantil durante la reunión.
