Memphis-Shelby County Schools releases findings on how District approaches campus conflicts

Superintendent Williams, Board Member Woods Receive MBJ Power 100 List Recognition

Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) officials presented findings from their study on school disturbances, pepper spray use, and school safety officer training. Memphis-Shelby County Schools Superintendent Toni Williams and School Board member Kevin Woods (District 4) have been named to the Memphis Business Journal (MBJ) 4th Annual Power 100 list. The section profiles the 100 most powerful people in the Mid-South as chosen by the editorial staff. According to the MBJ, the honorees are “the 100 individuals whose entrepreneurial spark, business light, and civic charge electrify Memphis."

Food for the Soul:



MSCS families and staff gathered at the Four Way Grill in the South Memphis community for the African American Read-In and to celebrate Black History Month. They enjoyed fun and fellowship while feasting on a soul food dinner and reading the book "Soul Food Sunday."

Spring Break Learning Academy is coming up! This FREE program, scheduled for March 13-15, will provide K-12 students with extra academic (and ACT) support in a fun and engaging environment. Parents can choose from 21 elementary, middle, and high schools across the District. Registration is open NOW, and limited spaces are available, so sign up immediately!

GELF to provide new books to thousands of students


Thousands of rising first-, second- and third-graders (current K-2 students) will get a boost to build their home library this summer, thanks to the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation (GELF)The home library program will send six brand-new, high-quality books to students at no cost to families; no action is necessary to sign up.
