The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Families,

At KLRN, our mission is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.

Exploration doesn't have to stop when you're home. KLRN continues to provide educational information, and family activity inspiration for you. As your local PBS Station, we are committed to providing quality entertainment and resources for children and families, KLRN is here for you.

As always, we are proud to be a resource for educators, parents, and caregivers especially during these times when schools are closed and children are home for extended periods of time. Working together, we can navigate these challenging times through keeping young minds in our communities engaged.

We continue to obtain resources from PBS Learning Media to help the learning at home. You can find many here, and we encourage you to set up a free PBS Learning Media login to create folders, share ideas online. Need help navigating this awesome resource? Please see the bottom of this page labeled PBS Learning Media Resources.

Be sure to visit klrn.org/learning and connect with us at  education@klrn.org  with anything you would like to learn more about.

With Appreciation,
The KLRN Education Team
INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - THINKING
Introduce your child to math terms like half and whole with this playful, homemade matching game that brings beautiful leaf colors inside!

INFANT/TODDLER SOCIAL - PHYSICAL
Studies indicate that playing and relaxing in natural settings can defuse stress. Brief nature walks can reduce anxiety, distraction, and symptoms of ADHD.

INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - ART
Art is all about exploration and expression. Your child will explore the world around them and express creatively using materials they find in it.

INFANT/TODDLER - EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY
Nature improves children's psychological and physical well-being, —and that can impact learning. But it also seems to affect how they attend to and engage in learning, how much they can concentrate, and how well they will get along with teachers and peers.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - THINKING
Matching up different pieces of nature will get your child to appreciate the big and little details of the world around them and help build their thinking skills.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - PHYSICAL
Taking a walk with your family is a great way to exercise and have fun!

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - ART
Get outside and have fun with nature, using natural objects (leaves, flowers, or anything else!) as brushes or stamps to paint creative art projects.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY
During stressful or intense emotional moments, children may not have the coping skills to calm themselves. Diaphragmatic breathing, also known as belly breathing, is a calming exercise that both children and parents can practice to relax and feel grounded, and one that children as young as three can practice.

PBS LEARNING MEDIA
PBS LearningMedia is free and can be used by anyone, but it was designed with teachers in mind. You can use it with the Remind app, Google classroom, and you can even create folders for your own reference and to share with your students, colleagues, and families.
