The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Families,

At KLRN, our mission is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.

KLRN has been in San Antonio providing trusted educational content for over 50 years and we are continuing to focus on our key priority, offering all children and their families access to free educational resources.

As always, we are proud to be a resource for educators, parents, and caregivers especially during these times when schools are closed and children are home for extended periods of time. Working together, we can navigate these challenging times through keeping young minds in our communities engaged.

We continue to obtain resources from PBS Learning Media to help the learning at home. You can find many here, and we encourage you to set up a free PBS Learning Media login to create folders, share ideas online. Need help navigating this awesome resource? Please see the bottom of this page labeled PBS Learning Media Resources.

Be sure to visit klrn.org/learning and connect with us at  education@klrn.org  with anything you would like to learn more about.

With Appreciation,
The KLRN Education Team

INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - THINKING
Counting and number recognition are skills that infants/toddlers will learn through games, activities and play. The more you talk about numbers and point them out in real life, the more inquisitive they will be.

Activity: Use pom poms to create color patterns.

INFANT/TODDLER SOCIAL - PHYSICAL
Physical activity  or exercise can improve your health and have immediate and long-term health benefits and it’s a fun way to learn about numbers.

Activity: Move like a dinosaur and count the movements you make.

INFANT/TODDLER COGNITIVE - ART
Art for toddlers can build different types of skills like fine motor coordination and bilateral coordination. ... Art for toddlers helps children with their self-confidence as they take ownership of something they created on their own. Arts and crafts also help children learn problem solving and patience.

Activity: Roll Dough Into Shapes of Numbers

INFANT/TODDLER - EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY
This can be a fun way to make the children understand numbers, as well as promote outdoor activity.

Activity: Pretzel Numbers
Have the child cut/bite pretzels into number shapes.

Activity: Hopscotch
Hopscotch is a fun game which has squares which are numbered in ascending order and the kids playing it hop one-legged to the square on which they are supposed to land.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - THINKING
Point out the numbers as you come across them in the book. Count the objects together with preschoolers so they get practice with one-to-one correspondence. Leave the counting books on display so the young learners can browse through them in their spare time for extra number practice.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - PHYSICAL
Children who have higher levels of physical activity during their childhood are likely to be more active even after they mature. This is important for better health and well-being.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - ART
Creating art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills that benefit a child's development.

PRESCHOOL COGNITIVE - EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY
Children often use ratios without realizing it. Your child will see just how tasty ratios can be with these fun math activities!
