Exciting Changes at CRCC Northwest

In December, we officially began the long-anticipated renovations at our Northwest Center! Over winter break, we completed the biggest portion of phase one of this project. Half of the building has brand new carpeting, paint, and lighting.

The new Snoozle room (pictured above) received a meaningful makeover, including adjustable lighting to better support a variety of sensory needs. The library is now brighter and welcoming for learning, exploration and meaningful connection for children of all abilities.

This renovation is about more than fresh walls and new floors. It’s about creating spaces that better reflect the level of care, dignity and expertise every child deserves. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this progress possible and excited for what’s still ahead

Winter Weather Policy Reminder

  • If Omaha Public Schools (OPS) is closed or announces a remote learning day due to inclement weather, but CRCC is open, CRCC’s NW and SW centers will open at 8 a.m. Only CRCC’s voicemail will be updated.
  • In the event of OPS announcing a late start, CRCC will open at the center’s usual time.
  • If it is determined that the weather is severe enough to close both CRCC centers for the day, CRCC’s voicemail will be updated first. Closure will be published on social media channels, local news, and the website. Parents will be notified by email and Tadpoles as well. All communications will be sent out by 6 a.m.

Adopt-a-Classroom

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Adopt-a-Classroom drive!

We're also so thankful for our wonderful friends at Pure Barre Elkhorn for adopting CRCC this holiday season! Their amazing membership truly showed up, coming together to donate toys that will bring joy, excitement and plenty of smiles to our kiddos. Support like this makes the holidays brighter and reminds us how powerful community generosity can be. Thank you for helping make this season extra special for the children and families we serve.

Introducing Relaxed Screenings!

In partnership with Common Senses Festival, Film Streams will begin having Relaxed Screenings in order to create a more welcoming, inclusive cinema experience for all audiences starting in January of 2026. These screenings, clearly marked on our website, will include raised lighting, lowered volume levels, open caption subtitles, and we invite patrons to feel free to vocalize and move around during the film. There are also sensory kits at each location which are available for checkout at the box office (note, these are available anytime, not only during Relaxed Screenings) Check out FilmStreams.org/RelaxedScreenings for more info and the upcoming schedule.
