PSAT Results

PSAT/NMSQT® and PSAT™ 8/9 scores became available to students on October 24. Students will be receiving a hard copy of their score reports in school this week. PSAT/NMSQT test takers who chose to provide a mobile phone number during testing can also easily view their scores and more on the BigFuture® School app. Students with College Board accounts will have access to robust online reporting information that includes scores from all tests in the SAT Suite. On the score reporting portal, students can interact with their score report, filtering test questions by difficulty and skill and viewing complete answer explanations. In the BigFuture School mobile app, students will receive customized career possibilities, information about financial aid and scholarships, and guidance to help plan for college. Click on the links below for resources to help students and families understand your score reports.

After School Academic Success Program

Some students struggle in school because organization and time management is a challenge for them; the result can be a failure to submit assignments on time. The Office for Academic Affairs, in conjunction with the National Honor Society, wishes to provide these students with additional support so that we can work together to avoid failing grades. To that end, we have developed the After School Academic Success Program (ASASP). The program is designed to help students who are struggling in a course because of missed or late assignments. How does it work?

STEP 1: A teacher submits a referral (using a Google Form) to the Office for Academic Affairs for a student who is currently struggling in his or her class and has missing or late assignments. With the referral, the teacher designates a specific assignment to be completed.

STEP 2: The Office for Academic Affairs contacts the student and his or her parent/guardian with a date for the student to report to the IHM Center for After School Academic Support. Students will be given at least two days notice for an After School Academic Success appointment. If there is a conflict, the Office for Academic Affairs will work with the student to identify an appropriate day.

STEP 3: The student reports to the IHM Center at 2:50 PM on his or her assigned date for After School Academic Success. The student will complete assignment(s). Members of the National Honor Society will be present to assist students in completing the assignment(s) designated by the referring teacher.

STEP 4: The student submits his or her completed assignment on Schoology, learns the value of hardwork, and enjoys the fruits of academic success.

End of Quarter

As we approach the end of Quarter 1, please note the following key dates:

  • End of Quarter 1: November 8th
  • Start of Quarter 2: November 11th

We appreciate your continued support and involvement in your child's education.

Date Change this week for After School Academic Success

Please note that this week After School Academic Success will be held on Wednesday, October 30th instead of Thursday, October 31st.

ADVANCE THE MISSION

Freshman Grandparents Welcome

Grandparents are an important part of our BSHS community and we love for them to come to events and receive our Shanahan magazine to know all the wonderful things happening at their grandchild's school.

Freshmen Families: We invite you to fill out the contact information HERE so that we can mail grandparents a special card with a picture of their grandchild from the first week of school. Space is provided to list the mother's parent(s) and the father's parent(s). If you need to enter additional grandparents at different addresses, please fill out the form a second time with the additional contact information.

Pictures can only be sent to those families who grant permission and complete the google form with the necessary contact information for mailing. We thank you for helping to keep this an ongoing tradition! Please contact Amy Seifert at aseifert@shanahan.org with any questions. Thank you!

There is Still Time to Send your 2024 PA Taxes to BSHS Students

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program allows Pennsylvania businesses and individuals to redirect their state tax dollars to support tuition assistance for students attending Catholic and other tuition-based schools. The program is a win-win in that students receive 100% of your contribution and you receive a 90% tax refund. To learn how to participate, join The Foundation for Catholic Education in an upcoming informational webinar! Click HERE to sign up. See the list of BSHS participants and learn more about the EITC program at Shanahan HERE.
