SAT Prep Books for Sophomores
This week in English class, all tenth grade students will receive the Kaplan 2025 Digital SAT Prep Book. They will utilize this resource in their ELA and math classes this year and next as they prepare fore the PSAT and SAT. Students are also encouraged to use their books at home. Each tenth grade student will receive their own copy, and are expected to keep it safe and in good condition for the next two academic years.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

High School Discernment Weekend | 11/16-11/17
For those who were unable to attend this weekend's event, a new session will take place in January. The Come & See Weekends offer men the opportunity to visit Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, meet with seminarians, and deepen their prayer life in order to explore the possibility of the Priesthood for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Yearbook Orders
Online yearbook orders are now open! Click here to place your order. The cost is $76 now through December 14, 2024 and then $81 thereafter until February 28, 2025. Seniors should NOT place an order for yearbooks. Yearbooks are purchased for each senior as part of the graduation fee.

Senior Graduation Materials
Attention Senior Families: All seniors MUST complete this Jostens Cap & Gown Order even if you do not intend to purchase any Graduation memorabilia or announcements from Jostens. Bishop Shanahan orders all our caps and gowns from Jostens and we need an accurate height and weight for your student.

Winter Dress Code
Thank you for your continued support in the wearing of the uniform. Bishop Shanahan's Winter Dress Code can be found in the Student Handbook on pages 32-33. All items can be found on the Flynn and O'Hara website. Ladies wear a green crew neck pullover, sweater vest, or ¼ zip pullover; a white short or long-sleeve banded-bottom oxford blouse or white turtlenecks with the BSHS logo under the sweater. Ladies will also have their Official Flynn & O’Hara Skort (no more than 3” above the knee) with dark green, opaque white, gray, or black tights.
Gentlemen wear a regulation V-neck green school sweater, vest, or ¼ zip pullover. The sweater is worn with a white short-sleeve or long-sleeve button-down shirt with a Shanahan tie, or white turtleneck with the official BSHS logo underneath. Gentlemen wear regulation Flynn and O’Hara khaki pants with a brown or black belt. All students continue to wear regulation Bass Nubuck, Sebago Docksiders, or Leather Sperry Topsider shoes.

Faculty Lot
The Faculty Parking Lot is the lot in front of the main entrance to Jack Mancini Field. Please do not use the Faculty Parking Lot for drop offs in the morning and picking up students in the afternoon. Please use the designated lane for Drop Offs and Pick Ups.

Electronic Device Policy
For security and good order of the school, cell phones must be kept in lockers during the regular school day. Cell phones may be used before the first bell and after the conclusion of 8th period, but must be turned off during the school day. Any cell phone found outside of the locker during that time will be confiscated. The student will receive 10 demerits and the device will be returned at the conclusion of the day. If an emergency exists at home, parents should contact the Student Services Office who will in turn notify the student. Ear buds or headphones are not permitted to be worn during the school day. Smart watches or other wearable smart devices are not permitted during testing. If a student uses a device to text or message, they will receive same demerits as cell phone usage.

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program allows Pennsylvania businesses and individuals to redirect their state tax dollars to support tuition assistance for students attending Catholic and other tuition-based schools. The program is a win-win in that students receive 100% of your contribution and you receive a 90% tax refund. Christmas Craft Show
Save the date! Bishop Shanahan is excited to host the Annual Christmas Craft Show on Saturday, December 7th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Join us and shop from more than 175 handmade crafters and vendors. Admission fee is $5.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors!
What's it like to be a student at Notre Dame?
Current sophomores and juniors looking for a collegiate experience may consider applying to our on-campus programs in summer 2025!
Summer Scholars or Leadership Seminars allow students to live on Notre Dame’s beautiful campus for two weeks. They'll stay in a residence hall with a roommate, take a challenging college-level course, and participate in fun community-building activities in the evenings. All of this, plus students earn transferable college credits from Notre Dame!
Need-based financial aid, including application fee waivers, partial to full-tuition scholarships, and travel reimbursement, are available to students who qualify.

Attention Juniors!
The 2024-25 Coolidge Scholarship application is live and available now. The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by
recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any current high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2026 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply).
Submission deadline: 5:00 PM Pacific time, Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Connect Thru Cancer Scholarship for Seniors
Connect Thru Cancer (CTC) is pleased to share the 2024-2025 application for the Cammie Hall Sanders (CHS) Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship honors the life
of Cammie Hall Sanders, a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend who passed away in 2023 after a courageous twelve-year battle with breast cancer.
To be considered for the Cammie Hall Sanders Memorial Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a local high school senior who has been impacted by cancer either personally, or by an immediate family member’s (parent/guardian/sibling) battle with cancer.
- Be able to share your personal experience with cancer and how it affected you.

Demonstrate the qualities of kindness, grace, selflessness and strength in the face of adversity, and possess characteristics consistent with Connect Thru Cancer's Core Values.
