HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

This year Bishop Shanahan High School celebrates the spiritual theme "Hope does not disappoint," as we prepare for the Jubilee Year of Hope. Join us in prayer each Sunday as we share quotes from the Psalms, Saints, and more!

FROM THE PRESIDENT

School Building Holiday Hours

Bishop Shanahan Offices will be open on 12/30 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.

FACTS Tuition Accounts

Respectfully, I remind all families of the policy of the Office of Catholic Education which states that no student’s account may be more than 90 days overdue. Any student with a past due balance over 90 days will not be able start the second semester which begins on January 27, 2025. Families are asked to make every effort to resolve any outstanding balances so as to avoid interruptions to their child’s education in the second semester.

PRINCIPAL

Nominate Your Favorite Teacher

All too often, teachers are unsung heroes. The Citadel Heart of Learning Award began 24 years ago in partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) to recognize local teachers who show dedication in and outside of the classroom. If you know a teacher who truly cares about their students and puts in the extra effort to enhance their educational experience, please submit a nomination here. The deadline for nominations is January 15.

ACADEMICS

Student Assessments

Bishop Shanahan High School utilizes Renaissance Star Assessments for benchmark testing. The assessments are administered three times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring) in students' math and English classes. Results are used to measure growth, guide instruction, provide individualized feedback, and inform academic placement decisions. The Spring administration of Renaissance Star Assessments will take place the week of January 6th. While there is no advanced preparation required for these tests, students will need a fully charged Chromebook to complete them.

After School Academic Success

There will be no ASAS on Thursday, January 2nd. The next date for ASAS will be Thursday, January 9th.

GUIDANCE

Speaker Presentation

On January, 9, 2025, Minding Your Mind young speaker presentations will be provided to the students. MYM young speakers provide their stories of hope and coping with their own mental health challenges. This presentation is part of our commitment to provide mental health information and support to students that may face their own challenges. It may also encourage these students to seek help and know they are not alone. Our two speakers this year will be Kelly and Tiffany. You may also find more information about Minding Your Mind at mindingyourmind.org. If you have any questions about the presentation, please contact Mrs. Saggers at bsaggers@shanahan.org.
