Bishop Shanahan had 105 students attend the DECA State Career Development Conference this week. The BSHS chapter was recognized for their work in the plan of action, and for being the 5th largest chapter in the state. Four students went on to final round and 2 qualified for International Conference in April. Congratulations all! | |

Mary's Mantle Lenten Journey
Planning on giving up candy for Lent? Consider doing something for our Lord instead of giving something up. The Bishop Shanahan parents and families are invited to join in Mary’s Mantle, a 46 day spiritual journey from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday. It is great for busy families! Best of BSHS
The annual Best of BSHS will take place on Friday, February 28, in the school auditorium. This is a fun event highlighting the club presidents, team captains, and senior members of our Shanahan clubs and teams. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show will begin at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door. Shanahan students should bring their students IDs for admittance. Outside guests must sign up for the VIP list through a Best of BSHS participant.

Operation Easter Basket
Operation Easter Basket is a service project run by Partners in Outreach. Each spring, volunteers assemble thousands of Easter baskets for children in need all over Chester County. Members of Shanahan CSC will be volunteering but we would love to also donate some items needed to fill the baskets. If you are able, please consider purchasing an item off the linked Amazon Wish List. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Senior Prom Mandatory Parent Meeting | March 6
Attention seniors and senior parents: A mandatory Senior Prom/Graduation Information meeting will be held March 6 at 7:00 pm in the school Auditorium. All seniors who plan on attending the prom must attend this mandatory meeting with a parent or guardian. Please mark your calendars!

School Bags
Traditional sized backpacks and totes are not permitted during the school day. Students may use small string bags to assist with the transporting of books and materials. Additionally, students may visit their lockers during class changes.

Registration for Spring Sports opens January 27, 2025
- Spring sports include Boys and Girls Track and Field, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball, Boys Tennis, Boys Volleyball (NEW), Girls Flag Football (NEW), and Boys Rugby.

Parents/Athletes: If you did not register for a Fall or Winter Sport this year, print Section 6 ONLY of the PIAA CIPPE form (PIAA CIPPE form available here) and provide it to your Authorized Medical Examiner (if they don't have an electronic version). Forms must be completed and certified after May 1, 2024. Forms dated prior to May 1, 2024 will not be valid and registration will not be complete.
- If you previously registered for a Fall or Winter sport this school year, follow the instructions within the registration form.

Boys' Tennis Meeting
There will be a mandatory boys' tennis meeting on Tuesday, 2/25 at 2:55 PM in the Commons for those on last year's team, as well as new players interested in trying out for the tennis team this Spring. Tryouts for the team will start on Monday, 3/3, at 3:00 PM at the Tennis Courts. Any questions please contact Coach Owens.

Franklin Yard is thrilled to be offering a BISHOP SHANAHAN-exclusive SAT Masterclass in Spring of 2025, where students will learn how to masterfully navigate both the test content and the adaptive digital format. Students will come out of the course equipped with the essential knowledge and strategies needed to excel on test day.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors!
What's it like to be a student at Notre Dame?
Current sophomores and juniors looking for a collegiate experience may consider applying to our on-campus programs in summer 2025!
Summer Scholars or Leadership Seminars allow students to live on Notre Dame’s beautiful campus for two weeks. They'll stay in a residence hall with a roommate, take a challenging college-level course, and participate in fun community-building activities in the evenings. All of this, plus students earn transferable college credits from Notre Dame!
Need-based financial aid, including application fee waivers, partial to full-tuition scholarships, and travel reimbursement, are available to students who qualify.

We are excited to announce that registration for Quinnipiac’s Pre-College Summer Programs is now open and students from Bishop Shanahan High School are invited to register!
This is the perfect opportunity for high school students to experience Quinnipiac University while getting a taste of the college experience and exploring topics that interest them — all while building a stronger application before they start applying to their dream school.
This year’s selection of programs features new offerings like Exploring Nursing, Creative Writing, the Entrepreneurship Academy, and Forensic Science — alongside established favorites like Movie Making and the Game Design and eSports Lab. With one-and-two week experiences for both commuter (daily) or residential (overnight) students, there is truly something for everyone. Students can register HERE.

Attention Seniors Residing in Chadds Ford Township!
The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association awards scholarships to high school seniors living in Chadds Ford Township, Delaware County. Winners are selected by the association’s Awards Committee based on academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community service, and their commitment to Chadds Ford.
• The applicant must be in the 12th year of education and accepted into a post 12th grade educational program. Examples of programs include a four-year college or university, community college, military academy, or vocational school.
• Cumulative GPA must be at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
• The applicant must be a resident of Chadds Ford Township – Chadds Ford 19317, West Chester 19382 or Glen Mills 19342
• Applicants must apply on their own behalf.
• Financial need is not a requirement.
• The application form, as provided by the Residents Association, shall be received by March 31st, of the current academic year.

The Chester County Mothers of Multiples Club (CCMOMC) is a non-profit organization providing support to mothers of twins and high order multiples in Chester County. Amina C. Valocchi Scholarship for Seniors
The Amina C. Valocchi Scholarship, administered through the Downingtown Area Chamber of Commerce, provides a $1,000 book scholarship awarded annually to three students who have demonstrated interest or intent to focus on business related education and extraordinary
commitment to public service in their communities. Application is due in the College Center
on 03/20/2025.
Applicant Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed grades nine through twelve in the Downingtown Area school district or school system.
- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, participate in at least two extra-curricular activities, and have demonstrable community service.
Essay Requirements:
- Applicants must complete a 500 word essay describing their community service and how they intend to continue their service through and/or after college.
Submission Requirements:
- Completed Application
- Recommendation Letters from 2 Faculty Members
- Essay
- Copy of Official High School Transcript
- Acceptance Letter from Post Secondary Institution or Business Plan

The Council of Concord Township, Delaware County, PA is pleased to announce that it is again offering four (4) $1,000 Scholarship Awards for the Class of 2025. All applications must be accompanied by an essay of 250 words or less and are due not later than March 21, 2025. Applications are to be submitted via email to office@concordtownship.org. The Noel Soccer Foundation would like to inform you of a scholarship opportunity for a senior soccer player who will be attending college or trade school in the fall. To apply for the scholarship, students are required to submit official transcripts, and an essay.
