IN-PERSON HEALTH SCREENING: All in-person families must fill out the Safe Access Health Screening each day before arriving to school.

Please DO NOT linger on campus. Drop your student off and then please head home. We have specific adults supporting classrooms at arrival and want to reduce exposure to additional people as much as possible.
DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO SCHOOL IF THEY HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS!
Principal
As you all know the district has made the difficult decision to send all students back into remote learning starting Monday, November 30th. See the communication sent by the district here. Please know that for consistency we will not be changing our Kindergarten-2nd grade rosters. Email me at [email protected] with any questions.

This move to remote is a call to action to all members of our community to make some sacrifices in order to bring our students and staff safely back to school. The choices that we make during our time off will directly effect what school looks like in the new year. Please follow all CDC and local and state guidance with regards to gatherings, face coverings and travel.

As we head into Fall Break, please remember that traveling is not recommended nor are Thanksgiving celebrations with persons outside of your household. If you are going to travel please see the resources below.

We are wishing everyone a very safe and joyful time off. So you all know Zoom is eliminating the 40 minute time restriction for free account holders on Thanksgiving day. This is another great way for connecting with your loved ones without infecting your loved ones. Stay safe UPark Owls!

Sincerely,
Eric Atonna

PTA - Apple Campaign
Last call for donations to qualify for the grade level competition! The Apple Campaign formally comes to an end tomorrow and all donations received by the end of the day will count toward our grade level competition. We’ve come a long way since the beginning of the year and are thankful for our generous families that have donated. We are still far short of our goal, having raised $49,754 of $70,000 so far, and would like to encourage all families who haven’t yet donated to consider giving today. Reaching our goal is important so we can continue to give our annual grant of $125,000 in support of UPark and make sure our students continue to have the teachers, staff, and resources that support their learning and development. Please donate today at bit.ly/apple-upark.
Yearbook Cover Art Contest-Open to Grades 3-5
Would your student like to be the artist of the 2020-21 yearbook cover?
  • This contest is open to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
  • All you need to do is print this template or use a white 8 1/2 x 11" piece of paper and let your student design whatever he or she thinks would look great on the cover of UPark's yearbook. Think owls, core values, friendship, math, science, etc. Anything goes! The design can be black and white or as colorful as they'd like.
  • The deadline to enter is December 4th. Students can take a picture and upload their design in Seesaw (use the yearbook cover assignment from Ms. Hale) or email the photo of their art submission to [email protected].
  • Make sure to KEEP this paper in a safe place until a winner is selected. We will need to obtain the original drawing from the winner.
Do Not Linger on Playground at Dismissal
In order to ensure that we are maintaining appropriate social distancing between adults and cohorts of students please make sure that you are leaving campus right after you drop students off in the morning and directly after students are dismissed in the afternoon. Students may not play on the playground before or after school to ensure that these social distancing safety measures are in place and we can keep our community as safe as possible.

For the safety of our community please also walk your wheels on school grounds at all times.

Kinder-2nd Grade Social/Emotional Screening-Due This Friday!
Dear Kinder-2nd Grade parents/guardians,

As part of our effort to support the Whole Child, our school is implementing a universal social and emotional screening for students.

Universal social and emotional screenings can provide a fair and impartial way of looking at how students are progressing in their social and emotional development. Screenings can also help identify areas where school personnel can improve or adjust our supports.

Please understand that screening is NOT an assessment or an evaluation. Since we have been in unprecedented times, school staff would appreciate your time in completing this survey. Please complete the questionnaire by clicking the link by Friday, November 20th, 2020.

The survey is 29 questions and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You will need your child’s six-digit student ID. Only one survey can be completed for each student. If you have multiple children in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade, please complete one survey for each child. Information from this survey will be used to help our staff identify the supports our students need during this time of uncertainty.

We appreciate your assistance as we work together to educate and support your student(s)!

Sincerely,
Alicia Vega, PsyD NCSP

Discovery Link
Discovery Link families,

As COVID-19 conditions change in Denver, we are adjusting our programming to prioritize the health and safety of our students and families. DPS announced the difficult decision to shift all K-12 grades and programs to remote learning, beginning on Monday, Nov. 30 through the winter break. This means that Discovery Link will not offer before and after school programs and shift to offering Remote Learning Support Centers for elementary school students. Registration opens today, November 19th at 6pm. At this time University Park will not be a remote learning support center location, but you may sign up for one of the many other locations available.

Please click here to register for Remote Learning Support Centers, which will be available at 30 locations for families who need support from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m with a capacity of 30 students per site. The majority of locations will cost $16 per day, with 8 grant-funded locations being provided free to families who attend those schools. Spots at Remote Learning Support Centers are limited, and available on a first come, first-served basis.

Families should remove days from their calendars and accounts will be credited for before and after school fees through Dec. 18. If you have questions, please contact [email protected]
