Thank you to all of you who have picked up and returned your enrollment packet. Your timely return of these packets help us to plan for a smooth transition into the fall.
Last year the teachers and leadership team at the ELC worked to develop the
Family Engagement Commonly Held Agreements
. This document outlines how we embrace the many diverse families in the ELC community:
Family Engagement at the ELC is about celebrating families and sharing children’s experiences at the ELC with loved ones. Specifically, family engagement events will:
- Help families feel a sense of belonging by providing opportunities to connect with one another within the ELC communities.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for families to share their gifts, talents, and culture.
- Inform families about what their child does during the day and why it is important to the child’s overall growth and development.
- Support parents and caregivers with their role and assist them to be their child’s primary advocate.
Focusing on this statement, we have added several family events to our calendar and worked to time events so that parents can more easily attend. For example, our November family feast was at the end of the day to more easily accommodate work schedules, we added the family multi-cultural event, and added parent support workshops on transitioning to kindergarten.
We all agree that families are essential partners with the staff at the ELC. As I worked with the leadership team and teachers this year, they felt that we should embrace that partnership with a written commitment. With this in mind we have created
The Family Partnership Agreement
which you found in your enrollment packets. The agreement outlines what we as teachers and leaders at the ELC bring to the partnership, what we hope you as a parent feel is your role in the partnership, and what we are both doing to support your child. We ask that you sign and return the agreement to us. We will then sign as well and return a copy to you. Please let your child’s teachers or a leadership team member know if you have any questions.
Thank you for the honor of partnering with you as you raise your child. We look forward to continuing to strengthen this partnership in the year ahead.
