Sunnyside PTO: Supporting education, community and fun!

At Sunnyside, we are incredibly proud of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and the amazing work it does to enrich the lives of our students, teachers and families. Our PTO is dedicated to fostering a supportive, collaborative and engaging environment for everyone connected to our school. From providing essential educational resources to organizing fun family events, they truly make a difference.

Our PTO provides educational materials for classrooms, funds research-based intervention programs and contributes over $6,000 annually to cover field trip costs. They also supply materials for student-interest groups, ensuring our students can explore their passions. Our PTO is committed to creating a strong community through Family Fun Events that bring Sunnyside families together, and by celebrating the hard work of our teachers and students throughout the year.

Our PTO meetings are open and relaxed, encouraging collaboration between parents, teachers and staff. We encourage everyone to get involved and follow the Sunnyside PTO Facebook page to keep up with events and initiatives. Together, we can continue making a positive impact on our students, school and community!

Building responsibility together: October's character focus

Last week, we kicked off October by introducing our character trait of the month: Responsibility! Responsibility means taking action and understanding how our choices affect others. Students were given scenarios where they had to decide whether the student in the situation made a responsible choice. To wrap up our assembly, our second through fifth-grade students sang a song about responsibility.

Below, you'll find a school-wide family newsletter from PurposeFull People, which includes two PurposeFull Pursuits your family can use to practice responsibility together.

Throughout October, students will continue learning about responsibility in their classrooms. Keep an eye out for a responsibility newsletter from your child's teacher, tailored specifically to their grade level.
