Hope Squad: Empowering Students to Foster Kindness and Support

Our school's Hope Squad is a program that utilizes a trained team of students to promote kindness, friendship and support to their peers. Students are nominated by classmates and teachers to be a part of this team. The squad goes through lessons facilitated by trained staff advisors. Together, they coordinate and engage our school community in activities to apply and share what they learned. Some topics might include resilience, anti-bullying, conflict resolution and building relationships.

Students often express how much being a part of Hope Squad has meant to them. When asked, "Why do I enjoy being in Hope Squad?," students shared:

"I enjoy being in Hope Squad because I can learn about how some people might feel and then learn how to help them. I also can spread kindness in the school." "I love Hope Squad because you get to help kids who are struggling." “I like Hope Squad because I like reading to little kids.” “I get to help people around the school and share kindness and happiness.”

Others reflected on what they’ve learned through the program, saying they’ve gained insights such as: "to step in other people’s shoes and be kind," "how to be the best leader," "that it’s good to help others and to have empathy," and "being nice is the best way to handle things."

These powerful testimonials highlight how Hope Squad not only supports our school community, but also empowers its members to grow and make a lasting impact.

Building construction/renovations updates

Our building construction and renovations continue to move along. We absolutely love our new spaces and are excited about our future spaces when the renovations are complete for the upcoming school year. The transformation of our old lunchroom/commons into a new library is well underway, with drywall installation in progress.

The coring of the center of the building has been an exciting sight. It will bring that much needed natural light to our lower level. In our closed off areas they continue to focus on the renovations to up date the needed learning spaces within the existing space.
