S.M.A.R.T. at Fairview
In our 4K through first grade classrooms, we recognize that some children may not have fully developed their sensory systems, which can affect their readiness to learn. That sometimes leads to challenges with academics or behavior.
To support their growth, we use a S.M.A.R.T. course aimed at nurturing these critical sensory systems through engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage natural movements. These exercises provide the stimulation necessary for learning readiness.
The focus is on building essential skills for school, such as letter recognition, printing, counting, rhyming and following directions. It also helps improve eye movements for fluent reading, enhances balance and coordination, and strengthens auditory discrimination to better recognize sounds – preparing children for a successful educational journey.
Be sure to ask your child about some of the fun activities they’re doing, such as popcorn, superman, the alligator crawl, using the balance beam, the rebounder, or the slap track – they’ll be excited to share their experiences with you!
