Hillcrest Students Practice Being Respectful
In the first Hillcrest newsletter, I shared that the district introduced a new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum called PurposeFull People.
As the first month of school comes to a close, I wanted to highlight that our focus for September was Respect. One way to think about Respect is “seeing value in all people and things and treating them with care." Many people feel respected in different ways. We hope this month that students were inspired to show respect both at school and at home and that as a family you can have discussions about what respect means to you and how you can practice it together! Respect is one of three traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution and leadership.
We will focus on being responsible during the month of October, and I will share more information in my October newsletters.
