Welcome (back) to Hillcrest Elementary School!

I hope this message finds you well as we continue our journey into the 2024-25 school year. It’s hard to believe that we’re already two weeks in! I want to start by expressing my gratitude for your flexibility with all the changes you’ve encountered, from the physical updates to the building, to the new drop-off and pick-up procedures, and our enhanced school security measures. These changes are part of what makes Hillcrest a special place, and I am proud to be part of it. Your support and involvement make a significant difference for our Hillcrest community, and it’s been wonderful to see our students returning with such energy and dedication.

As we settle into the routines of the school year, please remember that we are here to support you and your children in every way possible. We encourage you to stay engaged with school events and communications, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance. Here’s to a fantastic year filled with growth, learning and memorable experiences!

New This Year

We are excited to announce the introduction of a new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum at Hillcrest called PurposeFull People.

This program teaches skills that will help students be successful in school and in life. We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included. Students should have healthy and helpful connections with teachers and classmates. They should also experience learning that will help them tackle challenges inside and outside of school.

PurposeFull People is more than a set of lessons – it is a partnership between schools and families to create a place where students feel like they belong and learn skills that will help them be their best. There are three main goals for students: Be Kind, Be Strong and Be Well.

This year, you’ll be invited to join the fun! I will share updates about the skills and strengths being taught each month including some ways to build these skills at home, discussion starters and fun challenges you can try with your family. The path forward is full of growth! We cannot wait to partner with you in this work to...

  • Teach students how to build strong friendships.
  • Work together to solve problems, big & small.
  • Grow skills for life.
  • Become PurposeFull People.
