On October 10, approximately 75 families joined us for our first Family Goal Setting Night. Parents had the opportunity to learn about grade-level power standards and collaborate with their children to set reading, math or Social Emotional Learning goals. They also discovered a variety of games and activities that can be used both at home and at school to support their children’s learning and development. The event provided valuable insights and resources for the families. It was an engaging evening that fostered collaboration between families and educators. Here are a few pictures from the evening event.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are right around the corner; sign up through Skyward beginning Monday, October 28. This is a great opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss each child's progress, strengths and areas for growth. These meetings help strengthen the home-school partnership, ensuring that students receive the support they need both in the classroom and at home.
Giving Thanks: A Season of Gratitude
As we approach November, we are excited to focus on gratitude. One way to understand gratitude is: “Choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing gratitude can enhance our wellbeing and boost our happiness! It is one of three traits we will emphasize throughout the year to help students Be Well. Across grade levels, students will develop important skills such as emotion regulation, positive self-talk and stress management.
Before we transition into November, we will finish strong in October by focusing on responsibility, with students highlighted in our upcoming newsletter.
A huge shout-out to the Hillcrest PTO for sponsoring a successful B-I-N-G-O Night and to the PHS football players who greeted our students during Homecoming Week!
We are excited to formally introduce our new head cook and cashier, who joined us in August and have been doing an amazing job providing nutritious meals and friendly service to our students every day! Traci Snodgrass and Lindsay Deswarte join Kris Mommaerts; all have been welcoming presences in the lunch line since day one. We’re thrilled to have them as part of our Hillcrest family!
Students are invited to bring costumes to school on Halloween, Oct. 31. Please do not send your child to school wearing their costume.
Please note: Costumes may not include weapons of any kind.
