102 Residency Programs Join us in Philadelphia

The highlight of the FMEC Annual Meeting is the Residency Fair, which will kick off tonight at 7pm. The FMEC is honored to have 102 family medicine residency programs from throughout the northeast US join us tonight, and we are thrilled to have been able to give about 350 medical students scholarships to be able to meet them. See the 2024 Residency Fair Participants list to see who’s here.

Today’s Plenaries will address Physician Wellness, Doctor-Patient Relationship

At 12:30pm, Margot L. Savoy, MD, MPH, FAAFP, FABC, CPE, CMQ, FAAPL will present “The Value Proposition for Physician Wellness in Family Medicine.” Dr. Savoy is Senior Vice President of Education, Inclusiveness and Physician Well-Being for the American Academy of Family Physicians. This evening at 5:30pm, Jim Zervanos will present “Five Lessons from a Patient on Matters of Life and Death.” Jim is the author of two memoirs, That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story and Your Story Starts Here: A Year on the Brink with Generation Z. And the son of Dr. Nik Zervanos, an FMEC founder!

FMEC is Launching New Projects

New FMEC projects will be announced at today’s meeting.

  • The FMEC’s new Whole Person Care Performance Improvement Learning Collaborative aims to educate physicians about the benefits, rationale, and implementation of whole-person care while assessing physician and patient interest in adopting this approach to health and wellness. The project will teach best practices for successfully integrating the Personal Health Inventory (PHI) and HOPE note tools into routine clinic visits. All clinics are welcome! Email Rebecca Bouck for more information.
  • A new learning collaborative to address medical-dental collaboration, with a specific focus on connecting veterans to oral health, behavioral health and social services, will launch this fall. We need project leaders and learners!
  • And finally, the FMEC is setting up a new Learning Network Advisory Committee to help plan and what the FMEC does to connect and convene residency programs for collaboratives and shared learning.

Contact Scott Allen for more information on these projects.
