SPECIAL DISPLAY Sebastian Masuda’s Time After Time Capsule Through January 29, 2017 Created by Sebastian Masuda, influential Japanese kawaii artist and founder of Harajuku’s 6%DOKIDOKI boutique, Time After Time Capsule is a traveling art project that invites people around the world to contribute cherished personal items to fill 10 nine-foot-tall, translucent Hello Kitty time capsule sculptures. The project will culminate in Tokyo in 2020. The capsules will be returned to their cities of origin and reopened in 2035. JANM is pleased to host a special display of one of the Time After Time Capsules. A workshop for members of the public to work on their contributions to the capsule will be held on January 8, 2017 in conjunction with JANM’s 2017 Oshogatsu Family Festival. Other than the designated workshop time, the capsule will be on display only and viewable as part of paid admission to the museum. For more information, visit janm.org/time-after-time-capsule Presented in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles. |

Toshi’s Little Treasures A little boy named Toshi and his grandmother explore six of their favorite places: the riverbank, the town, the forest, the country, the park, and the beach. At each location, Toshi finds treasures to add to his collection—from a dragonfly wing to a glittery rock to a guitar pick. To Toshi’s delight, his grandmother always knows what everything is. Each scene is given a full-spread illustration, with lots of potential treasures labeled. This is a wonderfully engaging book that’s great for teaching young people about life science and the environment.
