NTXGivingDay

Our mission is intersecting faith and community to empower

Grayson County families to end child homelessness.

MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Welcome, 2026!

The new year brings fresh possibilities and cultivates hope. You bring that same hope to families throughout the year with your generous gifts of time and resources. Thanks to your support, the number of families we can prevent from becoming homeless continues to increase.

This year we are gaining four new Board members! Welcome to Jake Dickerson, Yahaira Quinones, Kristy Vits, and Glenn Whitaker, who are joining current members Jessica Wright, Maureen Kane Stevenson, Cassi Bergland, Blake Bray, Cathy Clayton, Michael Mattil, Carin Monk, and Laura Muller! This Board is passionate about our mission. Together, with prayer and hard work, we can do great things!

Thanks to numerous individuals and organizations such as Trinity Lutheran church, Sherman Noon Lions Club, and SSMC-Lone Star, many local children received Christmas gifts this year. What a privilege to live in such a generous community! Below are just a few examples of how you have made a difference in the past few weeks. Thank you!

Happy New Year, friends!

A WEALTH OF RICHES

Nate Pike and Allison Stech, of Utter, Pike & Dobbs Wealth Management Group, personally delivered a truckload of cleaning supplies donated by their generous clients. These items are being used both at the Family Promise Day Center and by families across Grayson County. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed bleach, laundry soap, and dish soap, providing practical help to many families struggling to make ends meet. Utter, Pike & Dobbs makes a huge difference in our community! If you know them, tell them how grateful we are for their thoughtfulness.

MERRY MOTORCYCLES

Christmas came a little early for a precious family, and it arrived on two wheels! Santa, Mrs. Claus, and several big-hearted elves from the SSMC Lone Star brought gifts and lots of good cheer! The children were so excited when club members rode up with Santa in tow!

This community-based Motorcycle Club, comprised of law enforcement and veterans, escorted Santa and Mrs. Claus right to this family's home, delivering gifts and goodies! It would be difficult to say who was more excited: the children or the riders! We love our partnership with the SSMC Lone Star! They provide an example of honor and integrity in our community.

PREMIUM ALTIUM CONSORTIUM

(A.K.A. The Complete Package)

Altium Packaging in Sherman recently held an interoffice contest to see which of its teams could gather the most canned goods, dry goods, diapers, baby wipes, and other household necessities. We are not sure which team gathered the most, but we do know the families we serve are the winners of this contest! Altium delivered two truckloads of items that will bless many families across Grayson County! We can't contain our excitement over this care package!

Altium manufactures plastic packaging with a strong emphasis on sustainability. They strive to use environmentally responsible materials and processes to enable businesses to reduce their environmental footprint. Thank you to each employee who participated in this contest! We are so grateful for your support. You are making a difference.

UPCOMING VOLUNTEER TRAINING

On Tuesday, January 20, from 6-8 PM, volunteer training will be held at Elmont Baptist church in Van Alstyne. If you would like to volunteer with Family Promise of Grayson County or just want to have a fun evening, please come to this training! It is fun and free! Bring a friend--you may even get to meet a new Board member or two! Hope to see you there!

PREMIER HOSTS

Living up to their name, the first congregation to host in the new year is First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro. We know from past experience that they will love our guest families and will provide meals and a safe place for children and their parents to stay. The Associate Pastor and Director of Youth and Music Ministries at FUMC Whitesboro is our very own new Board member Jake Dickerson!

The second Host congregation of 2026 is Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman. They will be hosting for two weeks. There is no doubt that they will be the hands and feet of Christ to our families. It just so happens that the Senior Pastor, Rev. Kristy Vits, is another of our very own new Board members! We are thrilled to have these connections!

If your congregation has not yet signed up to host families experiencing homelessness, please call the Family Promise office (903-771-0322) today!
