A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR

Hi, friends!

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, I am especially grateful for the people (like you!) who make our community stronger. Because of your support, struggling families in Grayson County are finding hope, encouragement, and practical help. Thank you for your generosity and compassion. Your kindness is a powerful reminder of the very best of our country!

SHINING BRIGHT

Whitesboro First United Methodist church always shines bright when it comes to hosting our guest families! Susie McCutcheon, Host Coordinator, recently brought a group of delightful volunteers from Whitesboro to the Family Promise Day Center for a tour and fun conversation. This was a great opportunity for volunteers and staff to get to know each other better and to talk about the services Family Promise provides. Pastor Dana Coker and Associate Pastor Jake Dickerson (featured below) also shared news about their church. Afterwards, the conversation continued at the Sage Cafe, where the Family Promise staff was treated to lunch. Thank you, Susie, for your wonderful ideas! We are so grateful for these kindhearted volunteers and for all the ways they show hospitality.

GET TO KNOW THE BOARD: JAKE DICKERSON

Jake Dickerson joined the Family Promise Board of Directors this year. A United Methodist pastor, pianist, and seminarian, Jake enjoys reading, drinking coffee, being quiet, and serving the community.

Jake was born in Oklahoma City but has lived in Texas since attending Southern Methodist University for graduate studies in music. Being part of Family Promise brings Jake joy. If he is not hiding out in a quiet corner somewhere, you might find Jake playing the piano, fixing a computer, or playing UNO.

Affectionately known as The Right Reverend Jake Dickerson, Jake brings a wealth of talent to the Board and currently serves as Board Secretary. If you have not yet met Jake, you are missing out!

STAR-SPANGLED NAPPIES

Thank you, Rowan and

Leap of Faith church!

Rowan Smart, Administrative Assistant at Leap of Faith church in Sherman, recently made another delivery of much needed diapers for the Day Center! Leap of Faith members collect the diapers for several local nonprofits, and we are so thankful to be on their list. Lower income families often struggle to afford diapers, especially when they have more than one child who needs them. Even "budget" diapers cost $50-$70 per month per child ($600-$840 per year per child), and name brand diapers can cost twice as much. We are grateful to be able to give diapers, wipes, and other hygiene products to our neighbors in need.

CLOSING THOUGHTS
