NTXGivingDay

Our mission is intersecting faith and community to empower

Grayson County families to end child homelessness.

MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Happy fall, y'all!

While the leaves start to change colors, one thing that does not change is your generosity towards the guests of Family Promise. Thanks to you, the Corn Hole tournament and North Texas Giving Day were huge successes! Your donations go a long way towards ensuring that every child in Grayson County has a warm, safe place to sleep.

Read ahead to be among the first to know about a new workshop that is being offered! Lots of good things are happening!

With deep gratitude,

Leigh

CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM SHAKE & BAKE!

A couple of Saturdays ago, fourteen teams had a great time competing in the Family Promise Corn Hole Tournament! Congrats to David Slyter and Wade Hatter of Team Shake & Bake who walked away with the first place prize! Special thanks to Chad Leasure for donating the Frank & Lola's gift cards that went to the second place winners Jordan Foreman and Shawn Rennwanz! Of course the real winners of this fundraiser are all the families that will be assisted with the proceeds from the tournament.

Huge thanks to Kelly Reed for chairing the event, to the Family Promise Board and staff for running the event, to Austin College APO members for timekeeping, to Covenant Presbyterian church for allowing us to use their parking lot for the tournament, to Chris Butler and David Slyter for providing the boards, to all the teams that participated, and to everyone that came by to cheer! It was a fun day!

YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

Incredible things happen when we all come together! For the 15th year, North Texas Giving Day was held to support nonprofits in our area. We are so grateful that this year you gave over $8600 to Family Promise of Grayson County to assist local families! We appreciate each of you for helping end child homelessness in our community. Many of you generously support several organizations, and a total of $63.9 million was raised for North Texas nonprofits! You are outstanding!

To help celebrate NTX Giving Day, 903 Brewers invited United Way agencies to participate in their Trivia Night and promised a percentage of the proceeds to the participating groups. It's a given that their burgers and loaded nachos are no trivial matter!

GIVING CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE

At the Family Promise Day Center, Joshua Whitworth and Berlynn Yates of Independent Financial recently taught an interesting class on credit cards and credit scores. Many great questions were asked and answered! We are very pleased to have this partnership with Independent Financial! Classes are held monthly, are free, and are open to the public. Snacks and childcare are provided. Come join us!

THANK YOU FOR LOVING OUR FAMILIES!

Two families currently are being hosted in our Rotation program. The newest is a single mom with two teenage sons. The older son is employed and plans to return to college in January, while the younger son is in high school. A family you hosted so kindly (mom, dad, and toddler) recently bought a car and moved into an apartment. We celebrate every milestone our families achieve!

Congregations hosting in October include: Georgetown Baptist in Pottsboro, Grace Lutheran in Denison, First Baptist in Whitesboro, and First United Methodist in Whitesboro. We are so thankful to our congregations for welcoming, feeding, and loving our guests so graciously!

OTHER BIG NEWS

Kyle Brantner of ABF Freight in Sherman recently nominated Family Promise of Grayson County for the Centennial Grant Program celebrating the 100 years ArcBest has been in business. He chose to honor Family Promise for all the ways we help families in our community. He personally presented this $1000 check during Truck Driver Appreciation Week. The grant will be used to assist families that are struggling to make ends meet. Thank you for making a difference, Kyle!

REGIONAL MEETING IN IRVING

Family Promise of Grayson County (FPGC) is an Affiliate of Family Promise National, which is divided into regions. We are in the Gulf Region. Family Promise of Irving and its Executive Director Aubrey Pi recently hosted a Regional meeting to give Affiliates an opportunity to meet with Regional Director Teressa Ramsey and other Affiliates to share ideas. FPGC Board Chair Becky Frank, Executive Director Leigh Walker, and Resource Advocates Tara Hickerson and Kristi Shilling traveled to Irving for several inspirational hours of brain storming, food, and fellowship.

A final thought...

Love deeply, live simply.
