FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER: YEARLY IMPACT
|
|
The Family Resource Center is committed to uplifting our community by providing free services, resources, and workshops. Our programmatic year runs from July through June. FRC Social Workers served our community this year by completing 643 appointments with community members inclusive of children; we've helped over 98 people connect to employment services, and have had an average of 50 families visit our free clothing boutique each week.
We've responded to food insecurity in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing meals for eight families in quarantine and distributing over $1,300 in Trader Joe's gift cards –– as well as $24,600 in emergency cash assistance! And, each month over 100 community members have enjoyed our wellness workshops supporting healthy cooking, creativity, and parenting.
At the Family Resource Center, we believe in the strength of this community. Our mission is to continue to provide support, respect, and dignity to all who come through our doors. We're with you all the way.

ABOUT OUR STAFF: HOW CAN A SOCIAL WORKER'S
SUPPORT HELP ME?
|
|
The Family Resource Center’s social work team aspires to take an equitable and client-centered approach to care, tailoring our work to each individual’s needs and identity. Our staff is multilingual with social workers speaking Spanish and Chinese, and represents the diverse cultures, races, ethnicities, and life experiences of our city.
Our mission and goal are to bring a holistic approach to caring for our community members. In the upcoming year, we will address their needs in three key areas: supporting stability, sustainability, and quality of life.
In order to best serve our clientele, we've built a strong network of community partnerships with organizations who support our work around care coordination, crisis intervention, and holistic services. Each person that visits an FRC care worker has the opportunity to be connected to specialists in workforce development (with our partners at New York Urban League), legal consultation (via New York Legal Assistance Group), mental health counseling from The Jewish Board, and much more! Our social workers are dedicated to working closely with each individual to identify their needs, and to connecting them to the best possible resources to achieve their goals.
You don't need to be in crisis to see a social worker! We are here to be your advocate and counsel, and to link you to resources that can improve your life.
Our social work team is available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. To schedule an appointment, email us at resourcecenter@mannycantor.org or call (646) 395-4246.

Family Resource Center Celebrates Juneteenth
The FRC celebrated Juneteenth at this month's Cooking with Kenya workshop! This holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on June 19th, 1865, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the Emancipation Proclamation. The celebrations included lots of delicious food. In recognition of the day our featured meal was red beans and rice with fried okra!

ReLoved Boutique at Manny Cantor Center is a partnership between the Family Resource Center and Early Childhood @ MCC where children’s gently used apparel, books, furniture, and other treasures find new homes. We carry sizes infant-5T.
The ReLoved Boutique is in need of summertime donations! Shorts, bathing suits, sandals, and more are all on our wishlist. If you have any of those to donate please stop by the FRC, and shop while you're there! In response to the recent shortage, the FRC has been able to acquire a limited supply of infant and toddler formula for distribution to our community. To register for the distribution please fill out the following form here.
*Please note that completing the form does not guarantee receipt of the formula. Upon completion of the form you will be contacted by a member of the Family Resource Center. Formula is limited to one container or pack per family and will be distributed while supplies last.
Shopping Hours:
Monday through Friday 9 am to 3 pm | No appointment necessary
*We are currently looking for donations of summer clothes and bathing suits for children 0-6T. Stop by the boutique during open hours to drop off your donations!
