Resource Spotlight

Spotlight on Support:

NJ Special Child Health Services (SCHS) Case Management

Caring for a child with special needs can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. New Jersey’s Special Child Health Services (SCHS) Case Management program is here to help.

This free, statewide service connects families of children (from birth to age 21) who have developmental delays, disabilities, or complex medical needs with a dedicated case manager. Your case manager becomes a trusted partner—someone who understands the system and helps you get the support your child needs to thrive.

How SCHS Can Help Your Family:

  • Coordinate care between doctors, therapists, and schools
  • Help you access services like Early Intervention, medical equipment, or financial assistance
  • Support with navigating insurance, Medicaid, or other benefit programs
  • Provide guidance during IEPs, evaluations, and transitions
  • Offer emotional support and connect you to local resources

Best of all—it’s completely free and available in every NJ county.

To learn more or get connected, contact your county’s SCHS office or visit:
