Join us on March 7th to celebrate International Women's Day with Tracy Moore!

For more than a decade, Tracy Moore spearheaded Cityline, one of Canada’s most influential lifestyle programs. Monday to Friday, viewers across North America tuned in as Moore shared the best style trends, cooked up the greatest new recipes, and sized up the latest fashions. Whether speaking on women’s empowerment, gender and race-based challenges in the workplace, diversity and inclusion, maternal mental health, and body image or lighting up the stage as an energetic host and emcee, Moore is celebrated for her friendly nature and down-to-earth attitude.

Moore has been nominated for “best host” by both the Canadian Screen Awards and the Gemini Awards. In 2023, she received the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television Changemaker Award for her work in calling out systemic racism and promoting values of equity and inclusion. She was the co-producer and co-host of Citytv’s RTNDA award-winning race special, Ending Racism: What Will it Take?

A positive role model on and off the air, Moore is especially proud of her work with the Children’s Aid Foundation and Toronto-based charity, Trust15. She is also the proud recipient of the Women Who Work Award, the Brilliant Minded Women Award for Community Service, and the BBPA Media Award.

Included with the ticket price is a three-course gourmet meal, extraordinary silent auction items, swag, door-prize items and much more. This event also provides an opportunity to network, connect with friends and celebrate the accomplishments of women, all while supporting FTP.

Funding Challenges Affecting Rural Support

"Rural women disproportionately face intimate partner violence and they often need help to leave their situations. But shelters across rural Ontario that step up to help say there’s not enough funding to protect them."

FTP's Rural Response Program (based out of Shelburne) reduces barriers by providing service (counsellors are mobile) to underserved female-identifying individuals living in the rural communities of North Dufferin. A significant portion of the funding for this program relies on fundraised dollars. It is an integral part of the services we offer and has already impacted the lives of hundreds of individuals living in the rural areas of Dufferin.

Please take a moment to read the following articles regarding the critical funding disparities affecting shelters across Ontario and how they are impacting the individuals we serve.

February is Black History Month

In Canada, the 2025 theme for Black History Month is: “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations.” This theme acknowledges the rich contributions Black Canadians have made in shaping the country’s cultural, political, and social landscape, while also confronting the ongoing challenges that come with systemic racism and inequality.

More information on Black History Month Canada can be found here.

Nonprofit Appreciation Week

Next week is Nonprofit Appreciation Week in Ontario—February 10–14, 2025. This is the fourth year of this initiative and it is based on legislation to recognize nonprofit workers and organizations by the Government of Ontario, Bill 9, Nonprofit Sector Appreciation Week, 2021.

Human Trafficking Awareness Day

February 22nd is recognized annually as Human Trafficking Awareness Day—a day to encourage awareness on this critical issue affecting communities across Canada.

What is human trafficking?

"Simply put, human trafficking is profiting off of the exploitation of another person through force, manipulation or coercion. Human trafficking encompasses many different types of exploitation including sexual exploitation and forced labour.

Sexual exploitation makes up 50% of human trafficking worldwide and over 70% of the human trafficking in Canada."

Please call us any time for information and support: 1-800-265-9178. You can also visit the CRY NOT website—a volunteer-based information and awareness portal supporting the Dufferin and Caledon communities.
