2024–2025 Annual Report

“Trees acquire strength by growing slowly and flexing with the pressures of nature. Us too…” – Gene Simmons

FTP's 2024-2025 Annual Report is now available.

2024-2025 Board of Directors

FTP held its General Meeting on June 18th and wished three of our board members the best as they retire from their positions. Thank you to Denyse Horner, Rapinder Kaur and Sheralyn Roman for their time and contributions to our board over the last six years. We know we will stay connected with each of them and look forward to working with them in different capacities in the years to come.

FTP's board was pleased to welcome Judy La Penna, Catherine McLean, Priya Rahlan, Tania Rooney and Debbie VanWyck to its 2025-2026 Board of Directors.

For more information on our board, please visit our website.

We hope to share a photo of our full board early this coming fall.

Save the Date!

This year, FTP is celebrating 40 years of providing safety, support and hope within the Dufferin and Caledon communities. We acknowledge this is both the unfortunate reality of the enduring and growing need for our services and support as a violence against women agency, yet also a beautiful testament to our community's commitment and belief in our work.

The collective support of countless volunteers, staff, donors, funders, community partners and stakeholders has shaped our history. We want to show our appreciation for your ongoing support and commitment to our work and invite you to join us at our OPEN HOUSE!

Please save the following date in your calendars:

Thursday, September 18, 2025 | 3–7 p.m. | 20 Bredin Parkway

Registration will be required—a registration link will be sent out later this summer.

40 Years of Hope

As we look to our future, your support is more critical than ever—we have a few ambitious goals we can't achieve without you.

In honour of our 40 years, we endeavour to:

  • Welcome 40 NEW monthly donors—one of our most sustainable revenue sources
  • Find out how to set this up.
  • Raise $40,000 through third party events
  • If you have an event idea to raise critical funds but need support executing—we can help!
  • Share the stories and experiences of 40 stakeholders
  • Have you been impacted by our work?
  • Do you have a story to share?
  • We would love to hear from you!
  • Reach 40 new businesses
  • Are you looking to deepen your corporate social responsibility?
  • Would you like to provide meaningful staff engagement opportunities, including payroll deduction?
  • Let us help you launch this!

If you would like to discuss any of these opportunities, please reach out to Kelly Lee at 519-942-4122, ext. 243 or kelly@familytransitionplace.ca.

We hope you'll consider how you can play an integral part in our future and realizing our vision—a future free of abuse where all individuals are treated with compassion, equity and respect, and live their lives in healthy relationships.

Thank you for being a part of our 40-year history. Let's create this vision for a future free of violence—together.

Your Voice Matters

As a member of our community, and in support of an ongoing FTP DEIB research project, you are invited to join us for a one-hour focus group to dive deeper into your experiences and ideas. This virtual focus group will give you an opportunity to provide feedback* on how we can better serve our community.

Wednesday, July 9, 2025 | 11 a.m.–12 p.m.

(or by scanning the QR code in the image)

*The session will be recorded but results will remain anonymous.

And, if you haven’t already, we’d appreciate a few moments of your time to complete a voluntary and anonymous community survey. This survey is a critical step in understanding how our services are experienced across diverse communities in Dufferin County and surrounding regions, and in identifying opportunities for improving access, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness.

Thank you very much for your time.

International Non-Binary People's Day

July 14th is International Non-Binary People's Day. This day is observed each year to raise awareness about the discrimination and misunderstanding non-binary individuals face each day around the world.

July 14th was chosen as the date to recognize this initiative because it lands precisely midway between International Women's Day (March 8th) and International Men's Day (November 19th).

World Day against Trafficking In Persons

July 30th is recognized globally as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons—a day to raise awareness about the human trafficking pandemic. Human trafficking can involve men, women, and children. However, most cases involve women and girls, for sexual exploitation, and children for cheap child labor. Children, particularly girls, represent a significant proportion of trafficking victims on a global scale. Human trafficking is an “industry” that reportedly rakes in hundreds of billions of dollars globally each year.

This year's theme is: Human trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation.

Visit the United Nations website to read more about the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.

Overdose Awareness Day

In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31st), the Dufferin-Caledon Drug Strategy Committee* is hosting its 8th Annual Overdose Awareness Day Event on August 28, 2025, with a focus this year on harm reduction. More details to come.

To be the first to know about event details, and for information about local resources and initiatives, please follow the committee on Facebook:

Overdose does not discriminate. Help us stop the stigma and save lives.

*The Dufferin-Caledon Drug Strategy Committee is a community group composed of like-minded agencies that are working together to support and coordinate the development and implementation of local, comprehensive, cross-sector strategies to reduce the harms related to substance use and/or addictive behaviours.
