Happy International Women's Day!

This year's theme is #AccelerateAction.

For International Women's Day (IWD) and every day let's inspire those around us to not only understand but to truly value women's inclusion.

Collectively, let's create a more inclusive world for women everywhere.

Take a photo of yourself making this pose (flex those biceps!) and post it to social media with #AccelerateAction and #IWD2025 to show your support for this year's theme. And please tag us—@familytransitionplace!

Read more about International Women’s Day on the official IWD website.

Did you know there is a Canadian IWD theme? This year's Canadian theme is Strength in every story. Find out more about it by visiting the Government of Canada's website.

Celebrating today!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our International Women's Day Celebration Event (taking place today!) a success. We couldn't have done it without the support of this incredible community.

And thank you to all of the wonderful business owners who contributed to our silent auction and prizes. Please visit our website to view the list of over 50 donors.

2025 Issue of Celebrating Women Magazine

Released in conjunction with our International Women's Day Celebration Event, this year's issue of Celebrating Women is now available!

Please take a look at the full responses from the amazing women who contributed to the centre spread of this year's magazine—Celebrating Local Women.

Thank you to the business owners who purchased ad space, writers who donated their time to contributing an article and to Liesje from Sprout Advertising & Design for the development of this year's stunning issue. Celebrating Women provides an additional source of revenue for us and we're incredibly grateful to all who contributed.

All proceeds from this year's International Women's Day Celebration Event, silent auction and ads purchased in this year's Celebrating Women magazine support FTP's critical shelter, counselling and education programs.

We will announce the fundraising total very soon!

Gender Equality

While we celebrate International Women's Day and all of the amazing accomplishments and achievements of women around the world and in our own community, we need to acknowledge there is still much work to be done. There is hope for the future...

Big thanks to generous donors

For four years, Shelley and Ken Wishart have generously made significant financial donations in support of our essential shelter, counselling and education programs. This reliable source of income has helped us prevent service interruptions due to funding shortfalls.

FTP has also received ongoing support from Shelley’s business, GoYoga, located here in Orangeville. Shelley, Ken and the GoYoga staff are like family to us and we’re tremendously grateful for their thoughtfulness, generosity and love.

Supporting Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day falls on the last Wednesday of February every year.

On that day, we wear PINK in hopes of creating a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness for anti-bullying initiatives.

More information on Pink Shirt Day can be found here.

Spa day for shelter pets

Did you know that (since COVID) pets are welcome to stay in our shelter? Our friends at the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre recently set up a nail trim clinic for those staying with us who have pets to access.

Michelle (left) owns a local pet daycare and grooming business (Michelles Paw-Fect Pets Day Care & Grooming) and she generously donated her time to provide some grooming services for our furry guests.

Big thanks to Michelle and to Shannon from the Orangeville SPCA for organizing this for us.
