This year the Executive Council decided for the Team Obstacle Course chapters who wish to dress in costume may do so, however; there will be no contest. For first time attendees this event will have members get dirty so please make sure that the clothing they wear may get ruined. Also, have members bring an extra pair of shoes to wear home. We recommend that all advisers bring or have students bring trash bags to take their clothes home. Any questions please call the state office at 614-466-5718.

The Fairchild Challenge is a free, multidisciplinary, standards-based, STE(A)M-focused environmental education program for middle school and high school classrooms which provides teachers with another tool to deliver core curriculum, and gives students an opportunity to shine. Central Ohio students compete against each other in four (4) challenges we have created:
1) Green Cuisine - Many-Cultured Meals; 2) Visual Arts - Environmental Photography; 3) Collective Action/Writing - Sustainability at Your School; and 4) Growing Beyond Earth - the NASA-collaborative challenge where students collect data about plants for use in space and submit directly to NASA scientists. Find much more information about this program on
Franklin Park Conservatory's website.

State Project: Ohio School Breakfast Challenge

- Classroom Participation
- Concentration
This fall, Ohio FCCLA members have the opportunity to participate in the Ohio School Breakfast Challenge as the State Project. This State Project can be used with many Career Development Events, State Project and National Programs Awards and use the hours spent on this project as service learning hours to track in the Service Learning Portal. Register your chapter for to participate in the Ohio School Breakfast Challenge Project by November 30 at this link. In addition your chapter can apply for an AdCap Grant to help implement the project. For more details visit

Do YOU have the F.A.C.T.S?
|
|
The FACTS National Program might sound intimidating, but it’s just another opportunity to provide service to your school or local community. Plus, your chapter can receive $1000! A FACTS project can be:
- A simple activity or a more elaborate event planned and carried out by students
- A short-term, one-time activity
- A series of in-depth events
- Completed by just 1 FCCLA member, a group of members, or the entire chapter about one, or several, of the FACTS topic areas (personal traffic safety, vehicle safety, or road safety)
Do you need project inspiration? Check out FCCLA’S F.A.C.T.S. information here
www.fcclainc.org.
In addition, to the $1,000 grant, four projects will be selected as the most outstanding and will be awarded a $2,500 cash prize each at Ohio FCCLA’s State Leadership Conference and will be considered for additional state and national F.A.C.T.S. program awards.

Ohio Beef Council Virtual Field Trips
|
|
These live virtual field trips, with special emphasis for middle and high school Culinary and Food and Consumer Science classes, will turn Ohio classrooms into virtual beef farms through the use of live video conferencing technology.
A total of five virtual field trips, each guided by farmers and beef experts, will virtually transport students live to a cow-calf farm, feedlot, and into the meat lab to share how food is grown, cared for and provided in Ohio. Students will chat directly with farmers and experts during live Q&A sessions. Each trip is also recorded so that classrooms not able to participate in live virtual field trips can watch a trip on-demand.
Culinary and FCS classes registered for trips will receive additional educational resources to help students understand Ohio’s food supply while helping teachers cover many of Ohio’s standards regarding beef cuts (types, grades), choosing cooking methods, understanding meat production and sustainable practices.
